It was an action packed evening across the state as District Tournaments were in full swing.  I set up shop at Garrard County for the evening and saw a near upset in the first game of the 45th District as Danville escaped with a 7-6 extra-inning win over Lincoln County.  Lincoln took a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the eighth thanks to a two-run homer by Chance Madden, but Danville rallied for three runs with two outs, scoring twice on hit batters with the bases loaded, and the game-winner coming on a bases loaded walk.

In the nightcap, the No. 1 ranked player in Kentucky's 2014 class, Micah Miniard, took the mound for Boyle County as they squared of against Garrard County.  Miniard's fastball sat 89-91 mph out of the gate, but he struggled early with his command, racking up a lot of pitches in the first inning.  He settled down in the second inning, and his 79-81 mph breaking ball was virtually unhittable.  Miniard's velocity showed a slight decrease in the third at 87-89 mph, and again in the fourth at 85-87 mph.  He left the game with one out in the fifth having thrown 99 pitches.  Boyle County won the game 5-2 to advance to the District Championship against Danville tonight at 6:00 PM.
