Kentucky Player of the Week: Logan County RHP/1B Caleb Bruner

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

When we first saw Caleb Bruner at our Louisville Prospect ID Showcase in January, the Logan County Brunersophomore proved he was a player to watch in the 2015 class with a fastball that touched 84 mph, good command of his curveball, and one of the best changeups of the day.

Bruner also showed potential as a two-way player with good bat speed (86 mph exit velocity), and a solid round in the cage.

The 6-foot, 165-pound Bruner has been using those skills in an impressive season this spring.  Last week was no exception.

In three games, all Logan County victories, Bruner was impressive to say the least.

He began the week by firing a complete game no-hitter with 9 strikeouts in an 11-0 win over Todd County Central.

He continued the week with key offensive performances batting in the two-hole in Logan County's wins over Christian County and Muhlenberg County.

All totaled, Bruner went 6-for-12 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored, and 5 RBI in the three game span.

In honor of his performance on the field, Caleb Bruner has been named Kentucky Player of the Week.
