It’s safe to say unsigned senior Layne Peavler is back.

After an impressive sophomore campaign, Peavler missed nearly his entire junior season last spring after an early season injury ended his year. He has returned to the field for his senior season in a big way  in leading Mercer County to a 5-3 record early this spring.

The right-handed hitting MIF put on an offensive show in four games last week. Peavler went 12-for-15 with three doubles, two triples, and seven RBI while scoring four runs. For the season, Peavler is hitting at a .593 clip and has not struck out yet this season. With his 6.65 60-yard speed (4.05 home to first), Peavler’s ability to make contact is important to note as he is a threat to reach base each time he puts the ball in play.

For his performance on the field, Layne Peavler has been selected as the PBR Kentucky Player of the Week for March 30-April 4.
