Kentucky Team of the Week: Butler Bears

Butler had been on the verge of the Power 25 for most of the season, but last week they kicked the door in during a week that would find them enter the rankings at No. 24.

The Bears, who stand at 20-7 on the season, began their week with a convincing 8-3 win at home over No. 8 PRP.   The momentum carried over the next night when they defeated Jeffersontown in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel, but their most impressive win of the week was yet to come.

In the Fayette County Invitational, the Bears won their third game of the week, and second against a top ten team when they knocked off No. 1 Tates Creek by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings.  That win cemented their climb into the updated Power 25 last week.

For the season, it appears Butler is hitting their stride just in time for District Tournament play.  After three consecutive losses in early April, the Bears have won 13 of their last 16 games, with all three losses to teams in the Power 25.

For their performance on the field, the Butler Bears have been named this week’s Prep Baseball Report Kentucky Team of the Week.
