Knisley emerges as one of Ohio's top unsigned pitchers

On August 10th in the last game of the Ohio Unsigned Senior Games on August 10th, a lanky 6-foot-3, 150-pound pitcher took the mound midway through the last game of the day.

After his first warm up pitch lit up the radar gun at 87 mph, Waverly High School senior Pierce Knisley quickly drew the attention of the scouts in attendance.

The senior from southeastern Ohio proceeded to fill up the zone at 86-87 mph with some late life to his fastball and complemented the pitch with a 71-72 mph breaking ball with slurvy type action.

Up until his appearance, Knisley was an unknown commodity in the class of 2014. But now, he is drawing attention from program's across the state.

"I have not visited any schools as of yet," he said.

He continued, "But I'm going to Cedarville soon for my first visit and I'm in the process of also visiting with Tiffin and Ohio Dominican."

With a thin, lanky frame just waiting to fill out and a quick arm, Knisley offers plenty of projectability for his future college destination.

"I feel I still have a lot to gain with getting stronger in the gym, and working on my game. I see myself as having high potential," he said.

After last spring's season, Knisley collected first time all-league honors for the third consecutive year as well as first team all-district for the second consecutive year and second team all-state for the first time.

He currently holds a 2.9 GPA and will be taking the ACT in September.
