Lockport Preseason I.D.: Preview

By Illinois Scouting Staff

On Monday, Feb. 18 (President’s Day), the PBR Illinois staff is headed back to Bo Jackson’s Elite Sports Dome, in Lockport, the site of the annual Lockport Preseason I.D. showcase. Annually, this event is one of the most heavily attended on our showcase calendar, with over 150 prospects slated to join us on Monday already – and registration is still open.

A handful of talented juniors will be in attendance in Lockport, namely RHP/INF Jacob Kampf (Lockport; video below). Kampf recently showed a clean arm, mid-80’s fastball and feel for a three-pitch mix at the Preseason All-State.

Two uncommitted junior outfielders who should be of high interest come Monday are Jimmy Rybarczyk (Sandburg) and Jake Donahue (Plainfield Central). Rybarczyk is a 5-foot-11, 195-pound, physical right-handed hitter with power in his bat. Donahue is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound, wiry, athletic, right-handed hitter with a loose swing, gap-to-gap approach and feel for the barrel.

Two 2020 third basemen to keep an eye on will be Anthony Fornero (Lemont) and Davey Fitzpatrick (Lincoln-Way East). Both have physical, athletic frames and upside right-handed bats.

Ysen Useni (Maine South, 2022; video below) should be one of the top underclass arms in attendance. Useni, listed at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, has a long, quick arm action and was up to 80 mph last spring at the Future Prospects Showcase.
