Welcome to Looking Ahead, our look at key matchups that will occur in the coming week from around the Commonwealth. Without further ado, here are games that we find to be especially interesting in the coming week:

LOOKING AHEAD: APRIL 16-21

No. 6 Manchester vs. No. 16 James River (Midlothian), Tuesday April 17
This Richmond battle pits a Lancer team that has a deep senior class with plenty of underclass talent against a James River squad that has wins over Hanover and Cosby.

No. 12 Woodgrove vs. Loudoun Valley, Thursday April 19
Woodgrove enters the week 8-0 and will face Loudoun County and Oakton in the first part of the week before taking on cross-town Purcellville rival Loudoun Valley on Thursday night. Pitching nerds will be happy with this game as the Vikings have 2019 arm Michael Grupe slated for the start and Woodgrove should have senior Jarrett LoRusso (Roanoke) set to start with junior Nick Lockhart (Virginia Tech) possibly an option in relief.
