This week we take a look back at our Junior Future Games Trials at the Harford Sports Complex with the release of our analysis of the 23 players that participated. Today we complete that analysis with a look at the two-way players from the event.

Bryce Bauer 3B/RHP Havre De Grace 2025
Athletic, compact body type and 5’1’’. 110 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate with hands pre-set in hitting position. Smooth back load and short stride. Takes hands straight to the ball and showed a short, slightly uphill swing. Gets some lower half involvement and stays on the ball with head down at contact. Recorded a 63 mph exit velocity and ran a 5.71 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the infield with soft hands and a quick, clean exchange. Had a tendency to field the ball in close to body at times. Throws with slightly shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 60 mph. Pitches from the stretch with a controlled leg kick into a tall balance position. Straightens front leg in his drop and drive delivery. Long to short arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot with easy effort. Lands square to the plate and gets over front side well with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 57-60 mph. Breaking ball showed gradual 12/6 break at 42-46 mph and change-up ranged 46-48 mph.

Lonzo Drummond IV OF/LHP TBD 2024
Athletic body type and 5’0’’, 95 pound frame. Switch hitter. Balanced, athletic, slightly open stance from the left side. Average stride and short hand load. Short, level with path and squared several balls up pull side with nice rhythm in the box. Stays behind the ball very well with head down on ball at contact. Almost a carbon copy on the right side with maybe slightly more bat speed. Runs through the ball in the outfield and plays low to the ground with active feet. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 61 mph. Ran a 5.03 home-to-first time. Pitches from the stretch with a short leg kick. Long, loose, clean arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Creates quick arm speed through release. Strong lower half drive off the rubber and lands square to the plate with an athletic finish. Really does a nice job of getting over his front side. Fastball sat 60-61 and touched 62 mph with slight arm-side run. Breaking ball was 52-54 mph with some 12/6 and 11/5 shape. Change-up ranged 52-56 mph.

Chase Fleming LHP/OF Appoquninmik 2023
Athletic body type and 5’4’’, 120 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open stance at the plate. Slight toe tap into a medium sized leg kick load. Direct to the ball with a level swing path. Attacks the ball with intent and showed quick bat speed and a strong uphill finish. Generates strong lower half involvement in swing. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter now with some pop. Recorded a 74 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.94 home-to-first time. Runs through the ball in the outfield with active feet and a crow-hop load into throw. Throws with long arm action from a low three-quarters slot a 71 mph. Controlled wind-up with a high leg kick into a tall, compact balance point. Smooth delivery and long arm action. Creates quick arm speed through release throwing from a lower three-quarters slot with some cross body action. Lands closed to the plate falling off slightly to the third base side.  Pounded the zone with a fastball that touched 71 mph and split-finger that had nasty late arm-side fade at 62-64 mph. Breaking ball had tight spin and some 12/6 action at 57-61 mph.

Parker Friend C/RHP TBD 2025
Solid body type and 5’9’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance with front foot inverted and hands pre-set in hitting position. Medium sized leg kick and level swing path. Showed some pop and bat speed recording a 72 mph exit velocity at the event. Gets nice extension past contact and utilizes his lower half well. Ran a 5.00 home-to-first time. Replaces feet quickly on throws to second with clean exchanges. Gets body low to the ground receiving and does a nice job sticking pitches. Controlled side-step wind-up and short, quick down-to-out delivery. Long, loose, clean arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot. Lands slightly open to the plate with an upright finish. Fastball sat 68-70 mph and touched 72 mph. Breaking ball was 53-56 mph with tight spin and sharp 11/5 shape. Change-up sat 55-56 mph.

Joshua Galvin SS/RHP DeMatha 2023
Strong, athletic body type and 5’8’’, 155 pound frame. Strength and power both present at the plate. Hits from a balanced, square stance, with a wide base. Creates nice hand separation in load with a small stride. Uses lower half well and showed quick hands and bat speed recording a 77 mph exit velocity. Excellent balance throughout and does a nice job staying behind the ball. Moves well and plays low to the ground with active feet. Smooth fielding actions, soft hand, and quick exchanges. Taps glove for rhythm into throw. Throws with shorter arm action from a low three-quarters slot at 75 mph. Ran a 4.65 home-to-first time. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a slightly crouched, compact balance point. Clean hand separation and smooth down to out lower half drive off the rubber. Lands square to the plate with an upright finish. Long arm action throwing from a low three-quarter slot with easy effort. Creates quick arm speed through release. Fastball sat 65-68 mph and touched 69 mph. Breaking ball was 59-62 mph with tight 11/5 shape and change-up ranged 60-63 mph.

Miguel Herb C/RHP Caravel Academy (DE) 2024
Athletic body type and 5’8’’, 136 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, open stance, and wide base with the bat head resting on his back shoulder. Loads hands with a bat wrap and uses a small leg kick to create rhythm in the swing. Short to the ball with an uphill swing path. Showed quick bat speed and good extension through contact using his lower half well and attacking the ball with intent. Gains ground on throws behind the plate and showed off a strong arm recording a 72 mph positional velocity. Put five throws on the money to second base with pop times ranging 2.12 - 2.25. Quick, clean exchanges throwing with short arm action from a three-quarters slot. Recorded a 72 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.77 home-to-first time. Controlled wind-up and delivery. Medium sized leg kick into a tall balance point with hands held high above head. Clean, long break with hands. Creates some short, whippy arm action and fast arm speed through release. Throws with regular effort and lands closed with a strong athletic finish. Fastball sat 73-74 mph and touched 76 mph. Breaking ball showed some gradual 12/6 shape at 58-59 mph and change-up ranged 67-69 mph with fade at times. 

Adam Hicks OF/RHP Gilman 2023
Advanced approach at the plate. Hits form a tall, balanced, athletic stance at the plate. Smooth front leg lift into load for rhythm and timing. Uncoils body and lets the hands fly attacking the baseball with intent. Creates some barrel whip and gets the bat head on plane early with a more uphill swing path. Nice lower half involvement and long finish. Recorded an exit velocity of 73 mph and ran a 4.89 home-to-first time. Controlled approach to the ball in the outfield working through it with quick footwork and clean actions. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 77 mph. Controlled side-step wind-up and medium leg kick into a tall, compact balance point. Clean hand separation with slight uphill shoulder tilt and a smooth delivery. Creates some arm speed through release and lands closed to the plate with a slightly upright finish. Threw with some longer arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot with easy effort. Fastball sat 68-70 mph and touched 71 mph. Breaking ball had 11/5 shape at 53-57 mph and change-up ranged 60-62 mph with slight drop.

Dominic Hicks OF/RHP TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’0’, 85 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance at the plate with hands pre-loaded in a good hitting position. Uses a to-tap load and showed a short, uphill swing path with a high finish. Utilizes the lower half well in swing. Ran a 4.83 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the outfield and throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 61 mph. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a compact balance point. Down-to-out lower half drive with hesitation. Clean hand separation and short arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Lands slightly open to the plate and gets over front side very well with and athletic finish. Fastball sat 56-57 mph and change-up was 53-56 mph with slight drop.

Jake Mohler RHP/3B TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’4’’, 115 pound frame. Switch hitter. Hits from the left side in a balanced, athletic, square stance with hands pre-set in a good hitting position. Small stride and short, slightly uphill swing path. Stays behind the ball and showed rhythm in the swing. Much of the same from the right side with more bat speed present. Works through the ball in the infield and has a tendency to field it deep,close to the body. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 62 mph. Ran a 5.64 home-to-first time. Pitched from the stretch with a controlled leg kick into a tall balance point. Clean hand separation and smooth delivery. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Lands square to the plate with a slightly upright finish. Fastball sat 60-63 mph and touched 64 mph and change-up was 55-56 mph.

Ryan Niedzialkowski 3B/RHP C. Milton Wright 2023
Tall, solid body type and 5’9’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance with hands held high in a pre-loaded position. Small stride and a short, direct, level swing to the ball with some pop. Showed quick hands and some bat speed. Gets some extension and lower half involvement as well. Recorded a 70 mph exit velocity and ran a 5.10 home-to-first time. Up-tempo side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a tall, compact balance point with hands set high. Clean hand separation and smooth down-hill delivery. Throws with longer arm action from a high three-quarters slot with easy effort.  Creates some arm speed through release and lands square to the plate with an upright finish.Fastball sat 70-72 mph, breaking ball was 60-62 mph with some tight spin and sharp 11/5 shape, and change-up sat 62-64 mph.

Griffin Shirk LHP/1B John Carroll 2023
Athletic body type and projectable 6’1’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate from the left side with hands pre-set in hitting position. Used a toe-tap to load. Attacks the ball with a short, direct, level swing and showed some bat speed. Generates some lower half involvement with nice balance throughout the swing. Gets some extension through contact and finishes swing with one-hand. Recorded a 75 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.53 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the infield at first base and throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 68 mph. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a tall, compact, quick balance point. Smooth down to out lower half drive and delivery with clean hand separation. Lands open to the plate with a strong athletic finish. Gets over front side well and pitches downhill. Throws with shorter arm action from a mid three-quarters slot and easy effort. Fastball sat 66-67 mph and touched 69 mph. Breaking ball showed gradual 1/7 shape at 52-55 mph and change-up was 58-59 mph.
