MD Unsigned Senior Games Spotlight: Michael Copenspire

PBR Maryland held the 2023 MD Unsigned Senior Games at Joe Cannon Stadium on August 8th. Players were put through a pro-style workout that included BP on the field, defense and a 60-yard dash. Following the workout, players participated in a simulated game that included live AB's. Players also received industry leading data provided by TrackMan, Blast Motion, Vizual Edge and Swift Performance during the event.

Michael Copenspire 1B / OF / Calvert Hall, MD / 2024Physical, hard-working, high motor and an intriguing hit tool are just a few words and phrases that describe the 6-foot-1, 210 pound Calvert Hall product. A breakout performance at this year's MD Unsigned Senior Games began with eye opening BP rounds, consistently catching barrels and producing hard, loud contact to all fields. It's a balanced setup, creating torque in the hips with simple, explosive actions in the hands. Slightly uphill path with some whip in the hands and barrel, Copenspire registered 76.9 max bat speed per Blast Motion with a max exit velocity of 98.8 and an average of 93.4 per TrackMan, including a 76.2 hard hit percentage across his three rounds. A versatile defender, a stick at first base is most likely in the future at the next level, however the quick actions allows a move to a corner outfield spot if needed. Registered a 7.00 60-yard, showcasing the sneaky speed and athleticism that Copenspire possesses. A proportionally strong, physical power bat that can impact a program from the start of his freshman year at the collegiate level; all paired with a high motor and work ethic that is every coaches dream. Michael Copenspire may be just now jumping on the scene and may be viewed as a "late bloomer", however this is a can't miss power threat at the next level.
