It is officially rankings week, and our staff begins the updates with a look at our MD/DE Class of 2024. As we remain at the Top 225 in the class, we do see a few players who have made considerable jumps this spring and summer. We continue the week by taking a look at a few players who are certainly trending up and rise in this new update.

Risers

Noah Burroughs RHP / OF / Sussex Central (DE), MD / 2024

A breakout performance at this year's MD Unsigned Senior Games has the physical two-way trending up quickly, with his name circulating the recruitment world. A solid, proportionally strong 6-foot, 195 pound frame has now put his name into discussion as a "can't miss" late add for a program. The ability to impact the game on both sides is evident, and the advanced athleticism (6.62 60-yard) and strength in all facets allows for versatility. It's a middle of the order makeup with consistent strength to the pull side, putting up ridiculous numbers earlier this month; to the tune of 110.8 max exit velocity, 95.8 average exit velocity and a max distance at 419 ft, all via TrackMan. Options are certainly plentiful for any coach out there, as the Sussex Central product runs the fastball up to 89 mph on the bump, backed by two separate breaking balls for strikes and a developing changeup. Quick pace, feel for the zone and an imposing presence on the bump bodes well for the future.

Travis Smith RHP / SS / Gerstell Academy, MD / 2024

A recent Harford Community College recruit, athleticism and competitiveness has always been the forefront for the Gerstell Academy product and I believe a year or two at a perennial junior college powerhouse like Harford is the perfect fit. The arsenal on the bump continues to get sharper and coupled with cleaner mechanics, has turned Smith into one of the more exciting arms in the class. Big fan of the mound presence and the pace that Smith works with and the feel for the zone continues to trend in the right direction. A really nice performance at this year's Mid-Atlantic Procase saw the fastball in the upper 80's, topping at 89 to both sides of the plate with whiffs in the zone. The slider continues to develop and has the makeup to be plus at the next level. If success is found at Harford, which I think it will, look for opportunities to be plentiful for the athletic righty after his stint at the Junior College ranks.

CJ Chatterton SS / RHP / Georgetown Prep, MD / 2024

An early spring commitment to George Mason, Chatterton has all the makings to be a "pro-typical" leadoff type bat that impacts the game with plus speed and a high contact rate. Leading a perennial powerhouse in Georgetown Prep, the wiry middle infielder can really pick it up the middle with average to above average arm strength that should allow a stay up the middle. A solid Spring, followed by a strong summer continued to showcase the above average bat to ball skills, and paired with the impact speed sees Chatterton rise in this newest update.

Raymond Huke RHP / OF / Georgetown Prep, MD / 2024

The long 6-foot-1, 160 pound righty caught my attention earlier this spring, and the effortless delivery with late action on the fastball impressed from the start. Sitting in the mid 80's during Spring, we saw the arsenal get increasingly more crisp as the summer progressed, working the fastball in the upper 80's and a tight slider down in the zone for weak contact. It's a frame and makeup that you can certainly dream on, eventually earning Huke a commitment to Columbia University and a rise in our newest updated rankings.

AJ Mendoza SS / perryhall, MD / 2024

A breakout performance at this year's MD Top Prospect Games sees the athletic two-way jump substantially in this update. Offensively, the run tool is above average, clocking a 6.90 60-yard at the event that plays even faster in game. It's a top of the order makeup, showcasing line drive tendencies with the occasional ability to showcase some untapped strength to the pull side. On the bump, feel for the two-pitch mix is present, running the fastball in the mid 80's with some late run, mixing a devastating slider with tight shape that plays well off the heater. Showcases the ability to induce whiffs in the zone and challenges hitters from the start. An athletic profile with plenty of versatility on both sides of the ball.
