March 21st Daily Round-Up

Several teams were finally able to open their season last evening.  A look at scores and highlights from around the state.

(No. 5) PRP 13  Iroquois 0
PRP, ranked No. 5 in the PBR Power 25, opened their season with a victory.

Owensboro Catholic 3  (No. 7) Henderson County 2
Louisville recruit Mason Richardson threw a complete game as Owensboro Cathoilic knocked off the No. 7 team in the PBR Power 25. 

(No. 11) Collins 10  North Bullitt 0
Collins, ranked No. 11 in the PBR Power 25, remained red hot in moving to 7-0 on the season.  Mason Jeffries and Dan Sanders each collected 3 hits, and Buddy Johnson scattered 3 hits over 6 innings to pick up the victory.  

(No. 12) Male 3  Desales 1
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 12 in the PBR Power 25, moved to 4-0 on the season behind the pitching of senior TJ Snead.  Snead racked up 10 K’s in 4 IP, and junior Anthony Piccolo picked up the win in relief.  Senior Chris Allen had a double and RBI to lead the Male offense.
 
(No. 17) Bowling Green 6  Logan County 3
The Purples, ranked No. 17 in the PBR Power 25, remained undefeated on the season with the win over Logan County. 

Paducah Tilghman 3  (No. 21) Caldwell County 2
Tilghman handed No.21 Caldwell County its first loss of the season. 

(No. 23) Bullitt East 7  South Oldham 1
Bullitt East, ranked No.23 in the PBR Power 25, continues to roll, improving to 4-0 on the season. 

(No.25) Union County 10  University Heights 5
Union County, ranked No.25 in the PBR Power 25, began their season with a win over University Heights. 

Butler 5  Bullitt Central 3
Jerred Hawkins had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Aaron Hedgecock pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run to pick up the victory for the Bears. 

Shelby County 8  Kentucky Country Day 2
Shelby County took advantage of 8 Country Day errors to secure the victory.  Junior Kipp Moore allowed just 1 hit over 5 innings to pick up the victory. 

Danville 4  Lincoln County 3
Nick Serey struck out 7 in firing a complete game for the victory.  Jay Hunn and Cole Phillips each had 2 hits and Mason Stamm added a triple to lead the Admirals offense. Tanner Leigh stroked 2 hits in the losing cause for Lincoln County. 

Corbin 5  Rockcastle County 4
Corbin stayed hot behind the hitting and pitching of junior Taylor Combs.  Combs went the distance for a complete game victory and also added a double and 3 RBI at the plate.  Derek Terry and Jacob Metzger each added 2 hits as the Redhounds moved to 3-0 on the season. 

Clay County 19  Bell County 9 (5 innings)
Austin Carnahan stroked 2 doubles and Dylan Garrison and Jordan White collected 3 hits apiece as Clay County won by run-rule in 5 innings. 

St. Mary 7  Graves County 4
Matt Higgins led St. Mary to victory going 5 innings on the mound with 7 K’s and collecting 3 hits and 2 RBI at the plate. Ross Whitaker contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI as the Vikings moved to 3-0 on the season. 

Wayne County 10  Cumberland County 2
Junior Ryan Corder went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI as Wayne County won their opening game of the season. 

Calloway County 10  Obion Central, TN 2
Hugh Paschall threw 6 2/3 innings of 2 hit, 2 run baseball to pick up the victory.  Paschall was also the offensive star for the Lakers, collecting 2 doubles and 3 RBI to lead the offense.  Tyler Greer contributed 3 hits in the winning cause for Calloway County.
