Midview (1-1) defeats Berea (1-1). In the performance of the day, Midview’s highly touted junior left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer threw a complete game with 16 strikeouts as Midview won 5 to 0.

#10 Walsh Jesuit (1-0) notched their first victory of the season with a 7-5 victory over Highland (0-1). Walsh-Jesuit left-handed pitcher Michael Marsinek (Eastern Michigan commit) earned his first win of the season over Highland’s Jerry Schole. Junior Cassidy Brown pitched in relief to close the game. Infielder Drew Milletti (Ohio Wesleyan commit) lead the way on offense for Walsh Jesuit with a single, double, 2 runs, and an RBI.

#25 Cincinnati Elder (1-1) takes down #7 Vandalia Butler (1-1) in a 6-3 victory. Elder junior right-handed pitcher Mitchell Asman compiled 4 strikeouts while allowing 1 hit and 2 walks over 4 scoreless innings of work. Senior right-handed pitcher Kyle Fain took the loss while throwing a complete game. Junior Peter Yorgen and senior Kevin Brackman each contribute RBI’s for Vandalia Butler.

#7 Vandalia Butler (1-1) defeats Hilliard Davidson (1-1) by a score of 6-4. Kevin Brackman picked up the win for Vandalia Butler with seniors Austin Craine and Taylore Cherry (UNC commit) contributing in relief. Brackman and senior Lance Straley each contribute key doubles in the win.

Hilliard Davidson (1-1) picked up a key victory against #25 Cincinnati Elder (1-1) in a 10-8 victory. Davidson senior Jacob Reese went 2 for 3 with two singles. Two Davidson pitchers combined to lead the Wildcats to victory, including Ben Eckert, an unsigned senior right-hander, who went 5 innings allowing 7 runs while striking out 4 batters. In the loss, Elder junior Mitchell Asman went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a RBI. 

#19 Columbus DeSales (2-0), the reigning Division II state champion, took a pair from Mount Vernon (0-2). Derek Traini, TJ Alas (Eastern Kentucky commit), and Zak DeCamp (Lake Erie commit) all contributed big hits in the victories.

Delaware Hayes (1-0) and Jacob Bosiokovic, the reigning Division I player of the year and future Buckeye, defeated Buckeye Valley (0-1) 11 to 1. Bosiokovic went for 2 for 2 at the plate with a homerun, double, and 4 RBI. Unsigned senior Jake Wright earned the win.

#15 Piketon (1-1) and Valley (1-1) split a double header in southeastern Ohio. In the first game, left-handed pitcher Zach Farmer, the state’s top 2013 prospect, and senior right-handed pitcher Brice Bennet combined for a Piketon no-hitter. Farmer struck out 11 batters. Valley’s Rob Dwyer put together an equal performance by striking out 11 batters as well. Michael Lewis was 2 for 3 at the plate. Eventually, Piketon won the first game 1-0 in extra innings via a bases loaded balk call. In the second game, Valley defeated Piketon 5 to 1. Valley sophomore Nate Arnett was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Piketon senior infielder Shane Pack hit a double and scored a run in the loss. 

Cambridge (2-0) picked up a couple of wins on this rainy Saturday. In the first game, Cambridge defeated Fort Frye by the score of 12 to 8. In the second game, Cambridge defeated Shenandoah 5 to 1. Rylee Rogers, one of the top unsigned catchers in the state, went 4 for 6 on the day with two singles, a double, a homerun, and 5 RBI.

Indian Lake (1-0) defeats Piqua (0-1) in a close 1 to 0 victory. Trevor Jacobs held the Piqua hitters at bay with 12 strike outs in the complete game shut-out.

St. Charles (1-0) defeats Canal Winchester (0-1) by a score of 5 to 4. Unsigned senior Chris Fenlon went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI for St. Charles. St. Charles junior shortstop Chris Brake went 1 for 2 with a single, sac fly, and 1 RBI. Canal Winchester junior Kevin Illich went 3 for 3 with 2 triples and 3 RBI in the losing effort.

Independence (1-1) split with Hawken (1-1). Anthony Korinek earned the win for Independence while unsigned senior Nathan Hunt took the loss for Hawken in a 9-1 affair. Junior Carey Artrip picked up where he left off last year with a double, triple, 2 runs, a RBI, and a SB. In the second game, Hawken defeated Indepdence 7-1 behind a complete game pitching performance from Alex Hughes. Mark Murgiano and Nathan Hunt bolstered the offense with one homerun a piece.

Adena (2-0) took two from Logan Elm (0-2). In the first game, Adena won by a score of 17-1 with senior RHP Griffen Bowdle only allowing 2 hits. In the second game, Adena won 6-3. Austin Hottinger allowed 5 hits over 6 innings as he picked up the win. 

#6 Hamilton Badin (2-0) took two from Harrison (0-2)

Norwalk (2-0) takes two from Oak Harbor (0-2) with scores of 12 to 5 and 5 to 2. In the first game, Norwalk pounded out 13 hits with junior Isaac Perry going 4 for 5; senior Evan Bader going 3 for 3 with a double; senior Nick Davis going 2 for 3; and senior Dustin Lieber going 2 for 4 with a double. Senior Garrick Smith earned the win in relief. In the second game, senior Nick Davis went 2 for 2 and junior Michael Finch went 1 for 2 with a key triple. Evan Bader earned the win as he went six innings giving up three hits. 
Tecumseh (2-0) picked up a pair of impressive wins with a 14-0 victory of Wayne and a 6-4 victory over Springboro

Talawanda (2-0) took two from Bishop Fenwick (0-2)

Lakewood defeats Berea 8 to 1.

Lakewood defeats Midview 10 to 4.

Sebring (2-0) takes two from Newbury (0-2) by scores of 18 to 4 and 9 to 8.

Kirtland (2-0) defeats Ledgemont (0-2) 7 to 4 and 6 to 0.

Wilmington (1-1) and Clermont Northeastern (1-1) split a pair with Wilmington taking the first game 5 to 4 and Clermont Northeastern taking the second 6 to 5.

Ross (1-0) defeats Little Miami (0-1) by a score of 7 to 1.
