The 2019 Maryland high school baseball playoffs and season have come to an end and with that today we release out Final Power 25.

Securing the top spot for the third time this season is Colonel Richardson from Caroline County and the Bayside Conference. The Colonels needed extra innings last Saturday at Ripken to defeat McDonough for the MPSSAA 1A State Championship but did so by scoring six in the ninth to cap a perfect 24-0 campaign. At No. 2 in our Final Power 25 are the IAC Champions, the Georgetown Prep Hoyas. The Hoyas ripped through the IAC this season and scored multiple wins over top MIAA teams. Speaking of the MIAA, Calvert Hall finishes No. 3 after winning their eleventh conference championship this spring and first since 2013. The Cardinals lost just two regular season conference games and tore through the MIAA Playoffs undefeated.

After beginning the year 10-0, No. 4 James M. Bennett struggled down the stretch as they battled some injuries dropping five of their last six heading into the state playoffs. The Clippers rallied however, making arguably one of the most impressive runs through the state playoffs in a long time. James M. Bennett defeated five of the top teams from five different counties including the defending state champions in route to the 3A State Championship (Chesapeake-AA, Stephen Decatur, Atholton, Thomas Johnson, C. Milton Wright). 

Want to talk about improbable though? How about Old Mill who finished the regular season 10-8. The senior-laden Patriots put it together when in counted the most rattling off six wins in the MPSSAA 4A State Tournament including two on walk offs in the state semifinals and state championship. 

While Old Mill ascends to No. 5 in our Final Power 25, our final MPSSAA State Champion, the La Plata Warriors round out our top six. The Warriors defeated Hereford 1-0 in the state semifinals and came from behind last Saturday against a very solid Middletown squad. 

Altogether, eight new teams crack our Final Power 25 of 2019 based on their strong finishes but enough talk, let's take a look at our Power 25, one last time.
