Class 4A Regionals

Minooka

Plainfield Central (23-12-1) rolled past Joliet Central 5-2 behind senior Mark DeYoung. DeYoung (5-1) fired three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win on the mound and doubled home two runs in the Wildcats three-run fifth to help himself.  Junior Blake Kerzich’s RBI single broke up the 2-2 tie in the Wildcat’s fateful fifth.

Plainfield North

Romeoville (10-25) defeated Oswego East 1-0 as Spartan sophomore Mike Esquivel singled home the only run Jim Rooks (3-5) would need in the fourth inning. Rooks would go on to fire a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for the Spartans.

Nonconference

No. 4 Mundelein (31-4) defeated No. 20 New Trier 4-1 behind senior Jared Mandel (9-1), who allowed three hits in his six solid innings of work on Monday. Senior Torr Randau continued his torrid-hitting with an RBI triple.

No. 5 Maine South (29-5) was surprised by Schaumburg 4-2 on Monday.

No. 8 Plainfield North (31-4) defeated Joliet West 6-1. Red-hot Tigers senior Caleb Kissel had a big RBI double for the SWSP champs. Lincoln-Way West falls to 21-14.

Red-hot Lake Zurich (24-10) won again, this time defeating Jacobs 4-1 behind a two-hitter by bear Connor Glancy.

Red-hot Lincoln-Way East (20-12) rallied past Andrew 4-3 on a clutch two-run double by Griffin Tommy Feusell. Andrew (25-10) will meet SSC Red champs and regional host Richards (22-12) in a Class 4A Richards Regional Semifinal at 2:30 on Thursday. The PBR‘s Drake Skleba will be in Oak Lawn for all of the action.

SWSC Blue co-champs Joliet West (20-14) defeated SSC-Blue co-champLemont 4-2 on Monday. The Tigers received a clutch two-run single from Anthony Dinardo and that was followed by an RBI double from Zack Thomas at the Tigers rallied past Lemont (22-9).

Upstate 8 River champ St. Charles East (23-10) slipped past Kaneland 5-4 on Monday. Fighting Saint junior C Joey Hoscheit had three RBI to lead the Saints past Kaneland (24-11).
