May 28 Regional Tournament Scores and Highlights

On a perfect night around the state for baseball, a lot of teams wrote their tickets to their Regional championship games and are one victory away from a trip to the State Tournament in Lexington next week.  Here are your scores and highlights from all the Regional semi-final action last evening.

1st Region

Paducah Tilghman 2  Murray 1
Jacob Underhill threw a complete game 2-hitter in the low-scoring contest as each team had only 2 hits in the game.

Lone Oak 6  Ballard Memorial 1
Colby Griggs went 3-4 with 2 RBI, and Bryce Wright went 2-4 with a triple and 3 RBI to lead Lone Oak to the win.  Cole Womack threw a complete game 4-hitter to pick up the win.

2nd Region

Christian County 16  Caldwell County 6
Dixon Craft went 3-4 with a double and 4 RBI, and Nile Shemwell went 2-3 with a HR and 2 RBI as Christian County cruised to the win.

Henderson County 11  Trigg County 1

3rd Region

Apollo 13  Ohio County 0

Meade County 6  Daviess County 4
Meade Co LHP Keith Carter went the distance on the mound to lead Meade County to the win.

4th Region

Logan County 2  Glasgow 0
Caleb Bruner fired a complete game 2-hit shutout with 8 K’s and also went 2-3 at the plate to lead Logan County to the 4th region championship game.

Russell County 3  Greenwood 0
Alex Turner went 2-3 with a RBI as Russell County broke open a scoreless game with 3 runs in the 6th inning.  Taylor Grider allowed just 3 hits in 6 1/3 innings, and Tyler Robertson came in to slam the door, striking out the final 2 hitters to preserve the win.

5th Region

Central Hardin 8  Bethlehem 4
Zach Ditto went 2-4 with a HR and 3 RBI, and Troy Riggs went 2-4 with 2 RBI to lead Central Hardin to the win.  Josh Krupinski allowed 3 ER in 6 innings of work, and Drew Harrington slammed the door by striking out the side in the 7th.

Nelson County 7  North Hardin 0
Jared Proctor went 3-5 with a double and RBI, and Hunter Smith went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI to lead the Nelson County offensive attack.  Alex Briney threw the complete game 4-hit shutout, racking up 8 K’s along the way.

6th Region

Butler 11  Jeffersontown 4
Butler scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning and never looked back.  Rashawn Ferrell went 2-2 with 2 RBI, Bryce Carden drove in 3 runs, and Jerred Hawkins, Bradley FerriellLazaro Sosa, and Kyle Lewis all added 2 hits each in the win.  Carden struck out 6 in going the distance for the win.

PRP 5  Bullitt East 1
Joseph Hatcher and Austin Beckman each had 2 hits, and Kyle Olliges fired a complete game with 9 K’s to lead PRP to the win.  Hunter Wood was 3-3 with 2 doubles in the Bullitt East loss.

8th Region

Collins 5  Simon Kenton 2
Collins rallied for 4 runs in the top of the 7th, the big blow coming on David Decker’s bases loaded double.  Zac Wiley picked up the win in relief, tossing 3 scoreless innings.  Austin Perry had 3 hits, and Buddy Johnson went 2-4 with a RBI in the win.

Spencer County 6  North Oldham 2

10th Region

Harrison County 8  Scott 1
Brandon Kendall recorded the win throwing a complete game in the process.

Campbell County 7  Bourbon County 4
Tyler Walsh doubled and tripled, and Rob Franzen picked up the win for Campbell County.

11th Region

Tates Creek 13  Madison Southern 2 (5 innings)
Blake Rose went 3-4 with 4 RBI, and Javon Shelby went 2-3 with a double and 3 runs scored to lead the 15-hit Tates Creek attack. 

Scott County 3  Woodford County 2
Trailing 2-0, Scott County rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 7th to knock off the defending state champs.  Chase Martin and Matt Gregory each had RBI singles in the 7th inning rally.  Lukas Mudd threw a complete game 3-hitter for the win.  Scott Co won despite Logan Parrett’s 14 strikeout performance for Woodford County.

12th Region

Mercer County 9  Wayne County 0
John Ingram went 2-3 with a double, triple, and 4 RBI, and Jackson Stoeckinger fired a complete game 3-hitter with 6 strikeouts to lead Mercer County to the 12th region championship game.

Southwestern 7  West Jessamine 4

13th Region

Harlan County 3  South Laurel 1
Tyler Boggs fired a complete game as Harlan County upset the favorite to advance out of the 13th Region.

North Laurel 10  Middlesboro 1
Logan Mallory racked up 11 K’s in the North Laurel rout.

14th Region

Letcher County Central 1  Estill County 0
Max Hall fired a complete game, 3-hit shutout, and Stephen Fox drove in the lone run of the game with a single to lead LCC to the victory.

Powell County 15  Knott County Central 1

15th Region

Belfry 6  Pikeville 5
Trailing 5-2, Belfry erupted for 4 runs in the 6th and threw out a Pikeville runner at the plate attempting to score on a SAC fly in the 7th to end the game.

Prestonburg 3  Lawrence County 2
Trey Stapleton went the distance on the mound for Prestonburg to pick up the win.

16th Region

Greenup County 11  Bath County 1
Greenup County took advantage of 7 Bath County errors in the game.  Seth Boyle and Zach Hutchinson each drove in 2 runs, and Boyle racked up 11 K’s in the complete game win.

Ashland Blazer 1  Rowan County 0
Cade O’Bryan hit a solo home run in the 6th inning to propel Ashland Blazer to it’s 2nd consecutive 1-0 win.
