NIAA State Tournament Brackets Set

NEVADA – The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks and Reno Huskies are the Southern and Northern Nevada Regional Champions.  Their wins on Saturday earn them a first-round bye in next week’s 4A State Tournament. The D’Backs made easy work on Saturday of the Las Vegas Wildcats in a run rule shortened game 10-0. Likewise, the Huskies defeated the Bishop Manogue Miners 12-2 in six innings.  Desert Oasis will play the winner of Bishop Manogue and Arbor View on Wednesday at Centennial High School while the Huskies will face the winner of Basic and Las Vegas at Bishop Gorman.

Boulder City defeated Moapa Valley to win the Southern Region 3A Championship. The Eagles will play Northern Nevada Region runner-up, Churchill County. Churchill County took Truckee to the wire forcing an “if” game but were stretched thin and Truckee earned the #1 seed with a final game victory.

At the 2A level, Yerington earns the Northern Nevada #1 seed by beating Incline.  Both Yerington and Incline advance to the State Tournament in Las Vegas.  Yerington will play The Meadows while Incline draws #1 ranked Lincoln County.  The 2A championship will be held at The Meadows School with play beginning on Thursday, May 16th.

The Smith Valley Bulldogs defeated Mineral County and earn the #1 Northern Region seed and will face the Pahranagat Valley Panthers at Moapa Valley High School in Overton.  Indian Springs beat the Panthers twice on Saturday to earn the Southern Region 1A #1 seed and Mineral County on Thursday.
