Scouting Report

 

6-foot, 185 pound two way player runs in 7.1-7.3 range. Ranked #26 in the Nebraska 2019 rankings. Strong- stiff finish, spray hitting with an all fields approach. Athletic build with present strength in lower half. Produces an upper 80s exit velocity. Behind the plate, throws in the lower 2.1 range. On the mound, tops out around 84 mph with his fastball. Sits in the 80-83 mph range. Arm action is short on the backside long out front. Rolling 11/5 shaped breaking ball with depth from a mid ¾ arm slot.

PBR: Why did you choose Fort Hays State?

For me it was the perfect fit when it came down to a relationship with the Coaches, how amazing the campus and facilities are, and the quality of education I'd receive at FHSU.  Along with the ability to compete as a two way player (C/RHP) right away.  Coach Goodale is putting together an amazing recruiting class.
PBR: What other schools were you considering? 
University of Missouri at St Louis, William Jewell, Northwestern and Doane.
 
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
They first saw me at the Arizona NCAA 2019 Undeclared Combine pitching.  Coach Goodale and Coach Sanders liked what they say at the Padres Complex and we continued to talk until I was able to go on campus and talk about Ft. Hays States program, see the great facilities and hear Coach Goodale and Coach Sanders vision.  It was something I really wanted to be part of.
 
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

Being a part of the 2019 recruiting class that Coach talked about being the backbone of putting the Tigers and Ft Hays State on top of the conference and compete for a D2 National Title.
 
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
From the time I was able to walk it seemed, my Dad has always pushed me to be the very best person I could be in every aspect of life, whether that be baseball, school, or just being a good person. I could not have gotten to this point without him. 
PBR: You've played for the Nebraska Prospects the last three years, what has that experience been like?
Playing under great coaches like Max Fearnow and Bill McGuire in colleges across the country has definitely helped me along the way. Playing for Skutt in High School has been a fantastic and rewarding experience that I wouldn't trade for the world.  Everyday with Coach Lack, Coach Gress and Coach Thedinga at Skutt we learn something new or correct something, and know we're a family and go to war for each other every game. 
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Coach Goodale really stressed to me how I would be competing for a spot on the mound and behind the dish right away, and how this recruiting class will really be the trailblazers to lead the team to great success in the future.  I look forward to helping the Tigers on the mound, behind the dish and at 1B.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Definitely winning the Battle of Omaha last year, and I know a lot of my teammates agree. To be able to compete and play through adversity with only 12 guys and limited arms, playing against some insanely good teams and winning the 'ship in a long, rainy game against a team that ended up winning the North Dakota state championship is really something I'll never forget.  That and making the Elite Eight at last years Gopher Classic out of 64 teams was amazing.

PBR: Who is the best player you have competed against?
