The Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms are used to having Jack Piekos being the star on the mound but tonight he was the hero at the plate as he drove a single through the middle to score T.J. McGuire from second in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The hit gave the Phantoms a 7 to 6 win over Shoreham-Wading River and preserved their chance of still winning the League VII Championship. Bayport will need to defeat Shoreham again on Thursday to be declared co-champions of the league.

Bayport’s T.J. McGuire was 3 for 4 at the plate

Shoreham’s freshman pitcher, Brian Morrell threw six strong innings.
