No. 19 South River and No. 23 La Plata both met on a beautiful Thursday afternoon for baseball in Game 3 of the Arundel Spring Break Tournament. The Seahawks quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead scoring two in the first and three in the second. Kavi Caster (Salisbury) led off the game for the Seahawks with a walk in the bottom of the first and moved to second on a successful stolen base attempt two pitches later. An error on a Cam Rees ground ball at first base scored Caster and Rees would later score on a wild pitch.

In the third, South River would take advantage of a couple more walks and string together a few hits to break the game open. Sean Leonard was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the second before Chris Sheridan doubled down the left field line to give the Seahawks second and third. Leonard then scored on a wild pitch to plate the third run of the game with runs four and five coming off a bloop single down the right field line off the bat of Keaton Goetzger (Radford).

Lefty Cael Huyer was dominant on the mound for South River throwing six consecutive shutout innings to open the game scattering five hits while striking out four and allowing just one walk. La Plata rallied late in the seventh to make it interesting loading the bases on three straight hits by Austin Brown, Brandon DeAtley, and Zach Harris.

The Warriors would score their first run on a pop out in foul territory to first base where home plate was left vacated, a ground out to shortstop, and a wild pitch. Huyer showed great competitiveness retiring the last three batters and got the final out of the game on another ground ball to Chris Nalley at shortstop as South River held on for the 5-3 win to improve to (9-4) on the season.
