Joe Clancy struck out 15 in a complete game shutout as the Westfield Bulldogs won their sixth straight game to start the season in a 3-0 victory over the Centreville Wildcats on Tuesday night.

Westfield struck early this gaem in the second inning off of Centreville starting pitcher Hunter Bell (VCU). Nick Lottchea hit a linedrive double just out of the reach of the center fielder over his head with runners on first and third. One run would score, but a perfect relay from Centreville would get the runner at first thrown out at the plate to end the inning. The Bulldogs would strike again in the third as Kevin Mackmin had an RBI groundout with runners on second and third to score one and make the score 2-0 after three.

The score would remain that way until the bottom of the sixth inning when Westfield would tack on their final run of the game after a tough luck Centreville error, making the score 3-0.

The story of the game however, was Clancy. The uncommitted senior right hander was dominant in his start, striking out eight of the first nine hitters of the game. Clancy was aggressive with his fastball and used an effective breaking ball that kept hitters off balance early and got stronger as the game progressed. Clancy had a no-hitter thru five, and stranded the bases loaded that inning which shut down the lone Centreville threat of the game. Clancy gave up two hits with four walks in his 15-strikeout performance.

Offensively the Bulldogs were led by Lottchea and Mackmin who each had one hit and an RBI apiece.

Centreville was led by Thomas Trinca and Eric Bohenek, who had the lone two hits in the game.

This marks the sixth straight shutout for Westfield who are off to a 6-0 start to the season.
