North Arkansas Prospect ID: Position Players

The North Arkansas Prospect Identification Showcase was held at University of Arkansas Fort Smith on July 15th. Here is a look at the position players that participated in the showcase.

Hayes Cox, 2017, MIF Fayetteville HS
Cox is a 5-foot-10 160-pound middle infielder with a medium frame and an average build. He was impressive during the defensive evaluation portion of the day. He displayed fluid footwork, and soft hands as he played through the baseball.  He as flashed a quick exchange with a strong accurate arm throwing the ball 84 mph. Offensively he has a short inside out swing that allowed him to hit the ball the other way on a consistent basis. Overall Cox is a good young player, as he adds strength he should turn into one of the better players in his class.

Jared Dawson, 2016, OF Dardanelle HS
Dawson is a 6-foot-2 175-pound OF with a large frame and an athletic build. He posted the best 60 time in the event running a 6.80 in the 60.  He worked through the baseball, with a fluid exchange and an accurate arm. He registered 81 mph throwing from the outfield. Offensively he showed a short line drive swing that consistently found barrel with. He produced exit velocities up to 84 mph. Overall Dawson is a good athlete with a sound swing, as he add strength he will be a sound player at the next level.

Teddy Asp, 2017, OF Fayetteville HS
Asp is a 5-foot-10 165-pound with a medium frame and an athletic build. He ran a 7.22 in the 60. He worked through the baseball with an elongated exchange, his arm was accurate, but he threw the ball 75 mph from the outfield. Offensively he has a repeatable line drive swing with balance through extension. He produced exit velocity up 76 mph. Overall Asp is a solid player that would benefit greatly by adding strength.

Brady Wadkins, 2016, MIF, Waldron HS
Wadkins is a 5-foot-10 170-pound infielder with a medium frame and an average build. Wadkins shows big arm strength throwing ball 88 mph across the infield. He plays through the ball with a little stiffness in the hands. He has an elongated exchange with an athletic arm.  Wadkins attacks the baseball with a rotational slightly uphill swing. He produced exit velocities up to 83 mph.

Caleb Grace, 2017, INF/C/RHP, Har-Ber HS
Grace is 5-foot-11 175-pound, utility player with a medium frame and a physical build. He had a very good showing at the plate. The left-handed hitter produced exit speeds up 92 mph. He has fast bat speed with an uphill bat path, with a consistent feel for barrel. Defensively he worked through the baseball with a fluid exchange and an accurate arm. He threw the ball 82 mph. Grace ran a 7.59 in the 60.
