Notes and Highlights



Here are some additional highlights that have been submitted beyond the box score.

  • Grand Blanc's Michael Leschock had a huge day going 3-3 in the District championship game against Davison.  Leschock had two homeruns on the day. The first came in game one and was the decisive blow against Lapeer West, while a two run shot in game two assisted in his 4 RBI effort. Grand Blanc also received a complete game effort from Brian Stewart.



  • Saline's Brent Vaccaro threw a perfect game in the District Championship game against Monroe.  Vaccaro led the Hornets to an easy 18-0 victory.  In game one, Saline knocked out one of the states top prospects, Jackson Lamb, in the fourth.

 

  • Dexter's Brett Garwood had 4 hits in championship game and added 4 RBI.  Dylan Pierce, a Kalamazoo College commit, also had 4 hits in game two as Dexter beat Huron to advance to regional play. 



  • In a Division 2 matchup, Airport deafeated Milan 4-1 to win the district.  Zach Baker pitched a complete game.  Earlier Airport defeated Romulus 9-0 as Alex Quirie pitched 6 innings for the win.  Milan defeated Jerfferson 6-3 to advance to the District Championship game.

 

  • Its no surprise that Richland Gull Lake (36-2) rolled through their district.  Logan Holwerda contributed two big doubles as they cruised to a 16-1 win over Hastings.

 

  • Blake Hibbetts picked up a win for Hudsonville while Brandon Cable, a Western Michigan commit, had two homeruns in the semi final game.  Hudsonville beat Jenison to advance to the next round.

 

  • Alex Maloney picked up two wins for Chelsea in District action.  The first came against Division 2 top ten team Tecumseh, and the second against Adrian.  Both teams finished higher in the SEC White but this day belonged to Chelsea and first year head coach Adam Taylor.
