Ohio Spotlight Game: #7 Lakewood St. Edward vs Normandy

In the division I contest, it was unranked Normandy (4-6) visiting #7 St. Edward (9-4). St. Edward used a big second inning to come away with a shortened, five inning 11-0 shut out victory.

The St. Edward Eagles struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning.

After a single up the middle from senior left fielder Kurtis Farley. The next batter in the inning was senior first baseman Kevin Ruffing, who hit an RBI single through the left side making it a 1-0 ball game.

The lone run in the second inning was all the insurance the Eagles needed in the contest against Normandy, thanks to some solid defense and good starting pitching from junior LHP Quinn Lavelle (Northwestern Recruit).

The No. 23 overall ranked player in the 2017 Ohio class pitched three innings giving up zero runs on no hits, walked one, hit a batter, and struck out one. Junior RHP Jeffery Santa came in to close the game down in the fifth inning and preserved the win.

St. Edward got two hits and three RBIs from junior designated hitter Kevin Finzer, the No. 52 overall ranked player in Ohio.

Normandy got a hit from first baseman, Jaret Dillion. Invaders RHP Logan Gyory went two innings giving up seven earned runs, eight hits, and two walks taking the loss in the game.
