Ohio Spotlight Game: Medina Highland vs #11 Aurora

Aurora – In Suburban League play the Highland Hornets traveled to Aurora to take on the Aurora Greenmen. Despite an early deficit, the Aurora offense prevailed for a 6-3 victory picking up their 5th win of the season.

The Greenmen offense got going in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a two-out two-run double by sophomore shortstop Evan Fromwiller. Fromwiller drove a ball to deep right-center and showed very nice speed.

Aurora went on to add three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

A sacrifice fly by junior catcher Bubba Arslanian and a big two out two run single by junior right fielder Ben Stawicki put the Greenmen capped off the 6-3 victory for Aurora.

The Highland offense was led by three seniors; second baseman Victor Zamlen, first basemen Hunter Rinard and center fielder Ethan Suran. The three players combined for three of the Hornets six hits and all three of the teams runs batted in.

Aurora starting pitcher, left-handed senior and Dayton University commit A.J. Kimes scattered those six hits over five innings.

The southpaw kept the Hornet offense off-balance on his way to his third win of the season. Kimes again showed the ability to pitch to contact and trust his defense.

The Greenmen lost several key members of their 2015 team but have some very good replacements in sophomore infielders Brent Henderson and Fromwiller. Both players made several nice plays and are promising prospects.

With the win the Aurora Greenmen improve to 5-0 and return to action on Wednesday April 13th, 2016 as they play University School.

With the loss the Highland Hornets fall to 2-3 and return to action on Wednesday April 13th, 2016 as they play Revere.
