Scouting and Operations Assistant

As the summer comes to an end and Oregon's Class of 2025 enters the back half their prep careers, we want to shed some light on the new faces within this rankings update. Last week, our staff officially updated our '25 board, highlighting several of the state’s top prospects within our release.

We'll dive deeper into the rankings today, shining light on a handful of players who debuted on our board after showing well in front of the PBR Oregon staff. Below, you'll learn more about these names that are trending upward as we enter the increasingly important fall season.

Newcomers

Camden Hartlaub SS / Caldera, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 43

Hartlaub is an athletic 6-foot, 160-pound up-the-middle defender with quick feet and a clean glove. He has shown well in front of our staff on multiple occassions, most recently at the Eugene Summer Open. There he posted an event best 6.69 60-yard dash, and he has reached a peak run speed north of 22 mph at other events in the past. His athleticism is apparent on the field, and he will be an intriguing follow as he continues to fill out his frame over the back half of his prep career. Following a productive 2023, Hartlaub debuts in our recent rankings update and now sits within the top-45 prospects in the state.

Jack Barss OF / SS / Lakeridge, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 44

Barss broke out in 2023, putting together a strong sophomore campaign before carrying that momentum into the summer. He made his PBR debut at the Portland Summer Open in June, where he impressed an earned an invite to the Top Prospect Games a week later. He hosts an athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with room to continue adding plenty of mass. He showed well offensively with fast hands and barrel lag during his round of BP. Barss flashed feel for the barrel, finding the sweet spot at a 61% clip. After an impressive year, Barss debuts in our recent rankings update within the top-50 prospects in the state's junior class.

Lance McKey OF / LHP / Central Catholic, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 47

Following a strong sophomore campaign, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound McKey made his PBR debut at the Portland Summer Open this past June. He's an intriguing left/left prospect with ample room for continued physical maturity. He introduced himself to our staff with a loud round of batting practice. At the event, McKey led all 2025 prospects in attendance in maximum exit velocity (94.0 mph), maximum bat speed (73.0 mph) and average bat speed (69.7 mph). Heading into the back half of his high-school career, he debuts in our rankings and sits within the top-50 players in the state.

Daxton Teixeira RHP / 1B / Beaverton, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 59

Teixeira owns a high-waisted frame with an upside build at 6-foot-5, 185-pounds, with long and wiry levers. He operates with a long and loose arm action from a high 3/4 window and has flashed whippy arm speed. The fastball sits in the low-to-mid 80s and plays with downhill tilt. Teixeira uses a pair of off-speed offerings to keep hitters off balanced; a breaking ball with depth and a fading changeup. He debuts within our recent rankings following a strong sophomore campaign and successfully maintaining that helium in the summer.

Freeman Rountree SS / RHP / Ashland, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 61

Rountree is an athletic two-way talent that stands at a lean and projectable 6-foot-1, 165-pounds with ample room to add mass. Defensively, he has clean and quick feet. He moves well laterally with range up-the-middle. Rountree has flashed soft hands with reliable actions as a middle infielder. Offensively, he has shown some bat speed in the past while doing a good job of getting his hands extended. On the mound, Rountree has a quick arm that sits in the low-to-mid 80s with a short slider and a running changeup. As he continues to fill out his frame, he will be an intriguing follow during the second half of his high school career.

Jacob Kotansky 2B / 3B / Lakeridge, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 62

Kotansky is the second Pacer to make this list following a strong 2023. The 5-foot-11, 150-pound infielder put together an impressive sophomore campaign, earning an invite to our Top Prospect Games as a result. At the event, he ranked amongst the top 2025 graduates in terms of maximum exit velocity (92.6 mph) and maximum batted ball distance (344 feet.) Following a breakout 2023, Kotansky finds himself within the top-75 prospects in the state in our most recent rankings update.

(6/21/23)

Kellen Hicks OF / C / Mountainside, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 63

Hicks impressed during the spring as a sophomore, resulting in him being invited to our Top Prospect Games in June. While there, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound outfielder put together a well-rounded performance. He began his day with a sub-7.00 60-yard dash, following that up with a solid round of batting practice. At the plate, he flashed feel for the barrel, finding the sweet spot at a 55% clip. He has loft in his swing, consistently hitting balls hard in the air. Hicks will be an interesting follow as he continues to fill out his frame. After a strong year, he debuts within the top-75 of our most recent rankings update.

(6/21/23)

Sawyer Enderle 3B / SS / Silverton, OR / 2025

Rankings  PBR Oregon: 68

Enderle is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound corner infielder with some strength in his lower half. He made his PBR debut at the Pacific Northwest Preseason ID in February, where he ranked among the top in his class for both maximum and average hand speed. Defensively he showed well, with steady footwork, a reliable glove, and a strong arm that has potential to stick on the left side of the dirt. At that same event, Enderle was tied for the best infield velocity amongst 2025 graduates. He debuts in our top-75 after a solid 2023.
