PBR Announces Mark Wagner as New Colorado Scouting Director

PBR Staff

Prep Baseball Report is proud to welcome Marc Wagner as our new Colorado Scouting Director.
A high-level talent evaluator with 25 years of experience at the collegiate and high school levels, Wagner brings a wealth of knowledge and Colorado roots to Prep Baseball Report.

Wagner has been intimately involved with Prep Baseball Report Colorado event operations and player evaluations for the last year, working alongside Josh Reynolds as the assistant scouting director. Wagner now moves up to the Colorado Scouting Director after Reynolds recently took the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator position at the University of Cincinnati.

Wagner’s roots run thick and deep across the Centennial State. Raised in Fort Collins, Wagner played at Rocky Mountain HS. After which he spent 16 years as a coach at the collegiate level, Wagner came back home to become the head coach at Fort Collins HS, where he led the program to seven playoff appearances, including a Final Four finish, in eight seasons between 2014-2022.

“I’ve known Marc Wagner for nearly 20 years when he was a college coach in the Midwest, so I know all about his tireless work ethic, keen scouting eye and all-around intelligence, on and off the baseball field,” said Prep Baseball Report President Sean Duncan. “I couldn’t be more excited to officially welcome Marc to our family in a heightened capacity. Marc’s diverse resume and track record speaks for itself. He’s a winner, and he has a passion for helping players in their baseball journey. Marc’s knowledge and expertise will resonate, which will ultimately benefit all the players, parents and coaches across Colorado.”

Prior to elevating the Fort Collins HS program, Wagner coached 16 years at the collegiate level. He spent four years at the University of Evansville as the recruiting coordinator between 2008-2012 (where he coached with Reynolds, and signed current Colorado Rockies Pitcher Kyle Freeland), and served as the recruiting coordinator at Bradley University between 2004-2008.

Before his tenure at Bradley, Wagner also  coached at Odessa JC in Texas (2003-2004), Morehead State University in Kentucky (2001-2003) and Mendocino CC in California (1996-2001).

“I look forward to building on the strong foundation already established by the Prep Baseball Report team and continuing to provide valuable insights and analysis to the Colorado baseball community,” said Wagner. “As the Colorado Scouting Director, I am committed to identifying the best players in the state and helping them reach their full potential at the next level.

“I want to thank Sean Duncan and the PBR staff for entrusting me with the role of Colorado Scouting Director. I want to build on what Josh Reynolds was able to establish in this state over the past year. I have been fortunate to know Sean since the beginning of PBR. Being involved with the vision of PBR at this time is extremely exciting, and to do it in my home state makes the opportunity that much more gratifying.”

After graduating from Rocky Mountain HS, Wagner went on to play at national powerhouse Neosho County JC in Kansas, before graduating from Abilene Christian University in Texas.

Now Wagner will bring his baseball experiences, connections and passions for scouting to Colorado’s prep baseball scene. Wagner will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information Colorado has ever seen, and provide scouting coverage to all corners of the state.
