Scouting Report

6/12/19 - 5’9 145-pound frame. Had extra base hits from both sides of the plate in game play.  From his natural right side he starts with a square stance with good rhythm in his hands. Hands set just above shoulder, keeping them back as he strides forward. Using a small leg kick to load into his back side. Middle approach with good balance. From the left side starts slightly open using a small leg kick to get back square in his stride. Exit velo at 84 MPH. Active feet in the infield. Quick twitch in all movements, including quick first step. Uses two hands to field the baseball, bringing it to center after fielding it. Arm strength at 83 MPH and will stay in the middle infield. 6.9 60.

10/14/18 - 5-foot-9, 142-pound frame. Showed some of the top infield actions at the event, regardless of class. He does an outstanding job playing underneath the baseball with soft hands and generates impressive carry across the diamond. 81 mph from SS. Oster really fights to stay inside the baseball on offense (81 mph exit velocity) and could benefit from letting the barrel work and making more contact out front to take advantage of his fast twitch ability. Ran 7.09 60-yard dash.

6/6/18 - 5-foot-9, 140-pound frame. Hits from a wide base from the right side. Gains minimal ground with stride as hands work rearward. Bars the lead arm. On-plane swing path. Showed good barrel control; 76 exit velocity. Defensively profiles as a middle infielder. Explosive short, choppy steps. Impressive range to both sides. Quick transfer and arm; 80 mph infield velocity with carry. Also posted a very solid 7.03 60-yard dash tat will likely improve with added strength. Quick twitch athlete.

5/20/18 - High-waisted 5-foot-9, 135-pound frame. Lists himself as a primary 2B as he plays on the same high school team as standout SS Vinnie LaGatta, but shows plenty of arm strength to play short or even center/right field. Likely the top freshman prospect in attendance, Oster stood out in nearly every category, positing a solid 7.07 60-yard dash, outstanding 87 mph outfield velocity and the type of quick-twitch athleticism that should make him a very strong follow moving forward. Really threw from the outfield with backspin and carry that would be interesting to see on the mound. Hits from wide, athletic setup, tending to lose his posture, without transferring weight into his front side. Posted 74 mph exit velo, but shows tools to hit.
