Scouting Report

6/12/19 - 6’1 160-pound frame with projectable frame and room for strength. Starts with a square stance, using small leg lift to land square. Creates separation by keeping hands back as he strides forward. Simple movements throughout swing, allow for consistent contact on the barrel. Exit velo at 87 MPH. Showed quick first step fielding ground balls. Good feel for timing to get rid of the baseball, kept it game like. Use of one and two hands depending on the lane the ball is caught in. Arm strength at 77 across the infield. 7.13 runner.

6/6/18 - 6-foot, 150-pound frame. Kearney has made some swing adjustments that will benefit him in the long run and allow him to drive the baseball more consistently. Now gains ground with his stride and keeps in his back leg longer; 78 mph exit velocity. Kearney is a solid athlete (7.10 60-yard dash) and can defend any position on the diamond. Posted a 78 mph infield velocity and an 80 mph outfield velocity with college-level actions in both spots. Now lists himself as primary outfielder and played there on varsity as freshman, but ceiling is clearly highest on the infield where he should be able to defend all three spots. Projectable body that should be able to add considerable strength moving forward.

1/28/18 - 6-foot, 150-pound frame. Doesn't possess a standout tool yet, but is solid across the board and does a terrific job squaring up the baseball with his flat swing plane. Hits from very wide setup with virtually no stride. Tips barrel forward to begin load. 80 mph exit velocity. Kearney is also a solid infield defender with advanced actions and an accurate arm that’s plays extremely under control for a freshman. Also a solid athlete (7.20 60-yard dash) that will be worth monitoring as he develops.

12/10/17 - With solid tools across the board, including a 7.25 60-yard dash, 75 mph infield velocity and 81 mph exit velocity, Kearney is an advanced all around prospect. Showing good defensive footwork and some softness in his hands, Kearney has a chance to stay up the middle where his offensive ability will stand out. His combination of solid bat speed and an extremely advanced feel for the barrel make him a very strong prospect to follow.

9/28/17 - Athletic looking MIF keeps bat in zone a long time. Hits from a wide, balanced set-up with low hands.  Loads hands deep to generate power creating a slight arm bar that didn’t prevent him from making hard contact with wood.
