The 2023 PBR Future Games are in full swing, with Team Arizona’s week starting off on a high note on Wednesday after an impressive workout day.

All of the position players for Team Arizona participated in a pro-style workout, collecting unrivaled data from our tech partners, and doing so in front of plenty of college coaches.

With the conclusion of the 2023 Future Games we give you an inside look at some of the top performers and highlights from last weeks event.

FULL EVENT COVERAGE

Gavin Mesa OF / 3B / Chaparral , AZ / 2025

Showed well in the first day at the Future Games workout. Mesa has a tall athletic frame with plenty of quick twitch from the left side. In his BP rounds Mesa worked primarily up the middle and to the opposite field gap with plenty more strength to come from the left side. In game one Mesa hit the first home run for team Arizona deep over the right field wall Mesa is the top uncommitted 2025 grad in attendance at this years future games.

Preston Armstrong C / 3B / Millennium, AZ / 2025

The size and strength for Armstrong was noticeable at today’s workout. Low effort and consistent pop showed during BP rounds. Excited to see how Armstrong fairs against some high level pitching this week. The simplicity and strength showed to be something excited about. Behind the plate Armstrong has a large target with a strong accurate arm to second base. We look forward to watching Armstrong this week as he will be the starting catcher in team Arizona’s opening game against Colorado.

Luis Mejia MIF / 2B / St. Mary's Catholic, AZ / 2026

One of the top uncommitted 2026 grads in the state of Arizona is in attendance this weekend and he did not disappoint in todays workout. Mejia has a premier glove up the middle with a glove that seems to always find the pocket and an accurate arm across the infield. At the plate Mejia has a tall stance with a quick bat that works direct to the ball. With added size and strength Mejia will continue to climb up the rankings in the state.

Zander Bratspis SS / 2B / Saguaro, AZ / 2026

Bratspis is an all around ball player. At the plate he has a short compact swing with consistent contact to the big part of the field, it showed in Bratspis AB where a drove a ball deep off the left field wall. In the field Zander has a confidence glove with an accurate arm across. We are excited to see how Bratspis does in the game portions this week against some of the top 2025 uncommitted prospects across the country.

J.T. Price 3B / RHP / Centennial, AZ / 2025

One of the premier uncommitted prospects in the state of Arizona has showed well over the first two days here at LakePoint. In the workout portion on Wednesday Price showed a simple middle of the field approach with a direct path. Defensively Price plays a premier third base with a good first step and above average range, on difficult plays Price showed to have a next level internal clock with the ability to slow the game down and make the play.

Mickey Fox LHP / OF / Yuma Catholic, AZ / 2025

Fox joined us as a pitcher only in Georgia and sparked quite a buzz. The left handed pitcher sat in the mid 80’s and got up to 87 with the fastball. While Fox’s fastball showed to play his slider was the separator sitting 72-75 with 2400+ spin. Fox is a high follow for the Arizona staff and we expect him to be on some lists following this years Future Games.

Grant Mcmeekin C / 1B / Mountain Ridge , AZ / 2025

The two-way prospect had a solid showing on Wednesday afternoon at the plate. McMeekin has a large athletic frame with loads of strength from the right side and a flat to slightly uphill swing that produces natural loft. On the mound McMeekin worked a fastball at 84-86 with an over the top action.

Jayden Garrison OF / 3B / Desert Vista, AZ / 2025

Garrison was a high profile prospect going into the week and he came up big in the final game of the week. Garrison was 2-2 on the day with a walk off 3 run homerun down 1 in the bottom of the 8th. Offensively Garrison has a repeatable direct path that produces hard contact to the middle part of the field. Defensively Garrison has clean actions with an easy reliable glove in the outfield and a premier 92 mph arm.

Grant Smith C / 3B / Basha, AZ / 2025

One of the top performers of the weekend came from catcher Grant Smith. Smith had a solid week defensively behind the plate hosing a runner in game 2 of the week at 3rd base that ended up saving a run from scoring for team Arizona. In game 3 Smith came up big late in the game with a shot to the opposite field wall.

Lucas Shannon 1B / RHP / Salpointe Catholic , AZ / 2025

The Arizona staff was excited to see Shannon this weekend against some of the top uncommitted prospects across the country. Shannon left the week with a couple knocks including a hard shot into left field for an RBI single. On the mound is where Shannon shines with a mid to upper 80’s fastball and low slot. With his sinking fastball Shannon generates swing and miss along with continuous weak contact.
