PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
HOGUE: I chose Iowa Western because I feel like they really invest in their players. I think they are the best fit for me right now to develop my skills as a pitcher.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
HOGUE: I was considering South Dakota State and Augustana.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
HOGUE: The first time Coach Herbst saw me pitch was early July I believe. He called me the week of district play for the first time and we began to talk more frequently after that.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
HOGUE: I definitely feel relieved now that I have committed. The recruiting process is just something you think about a lot and it’s nice to have finally made my decision.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
HOGUE: I wouldn’t say one factor put it factor put it over the top. I just really liked Iowa Western the best and I can see myself doing very well in their system.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
HOGUE: Obviously my parents have helped me the most with driving me to camps and visits and teaching me the game of baseball. I think that Coach Osborne has played a huge role in this process because he reached out to all the schools and has helped develop me as a pitcher.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
HOGUE: I never expected to get so many texts/emails. It was really hard for me to tell a coach that I wasn’t interested because I never wanted to sound like I was disrespecting their program.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
HOGUE: The coaching staff plans to develop my skills as a pitcher and increase my velocity as much as they can.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
HOGUE: My most memorable baseball moment to date is winning the sub-state final this past season. I pitched a complete game and when we got the final out it was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
HOGUE: The best player I’ve competed against is definitely Alec Patino of Sioux City East. He is a great pitcher as well as an amazing hitter. He is the toughest out in the city and he was a good challenge to hit against as well.
