PBR Michigan Spotlight Game: #8 Howell vs #4 Battle Creek Lakeview

Howell holds off Lakeview for an 8-5 win.

Unsigned senior Gavin Homer opened the game with a infield single to third base. Homer scored on a RBI drive to right field off the bat of 2017 Eastern Michigan University commit  Nate Jones, giving Lakeview an early 1-0 lead.

Unsigned senior Brett Chaperon reached base on a single and advanced to second on a fielders choice off the bat of unsigned senior Bryan Rendell. Unsigned senior Spencer Ford singled to right scoring Chaperon matching the score at 1-1.

2017 Nick Rauch led off the bottom of the second with a walk, followed by a Kaeden Palmer line drive homerun over the leftfield scoreboard. 2017 Seamus Mitchell singled to right, Johnny Shields legged out an infield single and Chaperon placed a beautiful drag bunt down the third baseline loading the bases. Unsigned senior Bryan Rendell received a walk scoring Mitchell. 2017 Clemson commit Sam Weatherly also drew a bases loaded walk scoring an additional run.

In the bottom of the third inning Palmer opened the inning with a strikeout but advanced to first on a passed ball. Palmer reached second on a wild pitch putting himself in scoring position. Shield's ground ball to third advanced Palmer to third. Chaperon laid down another drag bunt scoring Palmer.

2016 Eastern Michigan University commit Nick Jones opened the top of the 4th inning with a single down the third baseline. Unsigned senior Travis Snyder reached on a misplayed grounder by the second baseman. 2017 Gavin Rogers crushed a double to left center scoring Jones. 2017 Ethan Eldridge grounded out to second scoring Snyder.  2017 Parker Sparu drove in Rogers scoring their third run of the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Weatherly reached base with one out. Later after stealing second base, Rauch drew a walk. Palmer crushed a two RBI double scoring both Weatherly and Rauch.

Entering the top of the 7th Homer and Nate Jones both walked. Followed by another single by Nick Jones. Snyder drove in Homer on a grounder to the shortstop. Howell neutralized the Lakeview threat and won the game 8-5.
