Uncommitted SR Spotlight - Lamar Petties

Lamar Petties, Jr. OF / York, SC / 2020

Physical Profile/Body - 5-10, 180lbs. Strong, lean build on a medium frame. Slight projection remaining. 
Hit - Balanced stance with little movement in the hands, starts the hands in a deep position and launches from there. Short leg kick and stride time the swing. Muscles the barrel through the zone, generates some bat speed. Powerful rotation through the lower half. Middle to pull side approach. Line drive approach with occasional elevation. High finish. 
Power - The low line drive approach from earlier in the fall has advanced into a more elevated approach with intent. Produced a HR and multiple doubles before the season was put on hold.  
Running/Speed - Not a burner but quick out of the gate and runs underway. 
Glove -  Choppy footwork at times. Fluid on exchange with sure hands. Good reads and efficient routes help the defense play up.
Arm - Longer on the transfer takes some time to get the ball out, arm strength helps make up for that. Recorded an 82 mph OF velo. Throws are accurate with carry and accuracy. Threw a runner out at the plate in a game we attended. 

Summary -  A definite riser to start the season. Has shown flashes of power with a home run and several doubles before the HS season was halted. Strong arm in the OF, somewhat choppy with the footwork and a longer exchange. Quickness and good reactions help the defense play up. Plug and play corner OF if he finds the right fit.
