PBR Spotlight Game: Archbishop Hoban vs. DII's No. 18 NDCL

By Dan Machovina
PBR Ohio Assistant Scouting Director

CHARDON, OHIO – The No. 18 Notre Dame Cathedral Latin HS baseball team (6-4) squared off against visiting Archbishop Hoban HS (9-6) in a game that got off to a quick start.

Hoban didn’t waste anytime getting to Ryan Falls, the top ranked sophomore left-handed pitcher in Ohio. After two infield singles and an errant wild pitch by Falls, Hoban took the lead in the top of the first inning.

NDCL responded in the bottom half of the inning with a walk, double, and a two RBI single off the bat of senior designated hitter Jake Hamby.

Despite holding an early lead, NDCL found itself engaged in a seesaw battle.

Hoban’s offense was powered by senior shortstop Sean Trexler, who went 3 for 3 with three singles and senior cleanup-hitting catcher Austin Farber, who also went 3 for 4 with four RBIs.

In a back and forth type game, Hoban took game one of the series by a score of 11-7. The two teams will meet again tomorrow at Archbishop Hoban HS.
