Victory Park - With beautiful weather conditions for the first time this spring, Brecksville-Broadview Hts. (BBHS) defeated North Olmsted 3-2 in a tight Southwest Conference battle

North Olmsted (4-4) took an early 2-0 lead in the first, using four singles (Novak, Starcovic, McKenzie, and Phatsie) and a hit-by-pitch. An inning ending 4-6-3 double play ended what could have been a huge first inning for the Eagles.

The score remained 2-0 through four innings as North Olmsted junior Brad Novak and BBHS senior Pete Fischer threw enough timely strikes to get key outs.

BBHS then got to Novak in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs as Nate Korczynski got an RBI infield single, stole a base and eventually scored the winning run.

North Olmsted had their chance to tie it up in the fifth inning, but couldn’t execute. BBHS sophomore catcher Jacob Burnett managed to pull the ball out of the dirt on a squeeze play and tagged the potential tying run out at home.

North Olmsted’s Jon Nola switched made the switch from catcher to pitcher and kept the game close in innings six and seven, but North Olmsted couldn’t muster any offense as Brecksville junior RHP Josh Armbruster pitched two innings of relief to record the save.
