TOLEDO - St. Francis had a goal in mind, the goal was to keep Max Lyon fresh and ready for a long tournament run. Lyon showed Saturday why this plan was a good one.

The John Carroll recruit tossed a one-hit shutout against a talented Oregon Clay ball club. The senior only needed to throw 79 pitches, 49 for strikes while not allowing a baserunner to reach second base in a 4-0 win over Clay.

The righty had all three pitches working on Saturday, keeping the Eagles off-balance with his curve and change while spotting his fastball. The only hit off of Lyon came in the first inning off the bat of sophomore shortstop Ryan Fournier.

St Francis scored two runs in the second and two in the fifth. In the second the Knights scored from second base on a fielder's choice and then scored again on a throwing error on a stolen base for two unearned runs.

In the fifth, senior Joe White drew a walk and scored on a triple by Dennison recruit Eric Zmuda. Unsigned senior Cody Lewis drove Zmuda in with a sacrifice fly to put the Knights up 4-0.

Clay's senior starter Lucas Robson went the distance for the Eagles (14-13) allowing four runs, two of those earned on four hits in the loss.

St. Francis just keeps it rolling, winning their 25th game in a row and now advance to the regional semifinals to take on No. 7-ranked Perrysburg on Thursday at Bowling Green State University's Stellar Field at 5 p.m.
