Roselawn Park- On a cold, blustery Saturday morning, the La Salle Lancers fell to the Kings Knights five to four in a seven inning affair.

The game featured two of greater Cincinnati’s many pitching prospects: King’s junior LHP Matt Fowler and Lasalle’s unsigned senior RHP Paul Spaulding.

Fowler earned the win pitching four innings giving up four runs (two earned) on two hits while striking out three and walking two batters.

King’s unsigned senior RHP Ben Hovis pitched the final three innings, earning the save, while striking out two Lancers on a nasty curve ball which sat at 62-65 mph.

La Salle’s Spaulding gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits while striking out one and walking five. La Salle junior RHP Jake Meyers came in with two outs in the fourth and gave up one unearned run while taking the loss.

The hitting stars for the game were King’s unsigned senior Brent Mathias who went two for four driving in two run while scoring one. Unsigned senior Tucker Oliver continued his torrid hitting pace finishing the first week of the season batting .545 while driving in seven.

La Salle was led by sophomore second baseman Nigel Williams who collected two of the Lancer’s five hits while scoring once.

Lasalle (2-3) hosts division rival St. Xavier (2-2) at 4:30 this afternoon, weather permitting.
