The Lincoln-West Wolverines traveled more than an hour south to take on host Rittman Indians in a doubleheader Saturday.

Playing solid ball offensively and defensively, the Wolverines came away with a hard fought sweep over the Indians.

The first game, a 9-3 victory, was dominated by Carlos Ortiz, who pitched 6 and 1/3 innings, striking out 13, walking 4 and giving up 3 runs on 3 hits.

Senior shortstop Jose Alvarado led a solid defense behind Ortiz.

The Indians got on the board with a two-run home-run down the right field line by Anthony Heater.

Ortiz was also a force at the plate in game one, going two for three with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Lincoln-West sophomore first baseman Nick Guerra was 5 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 walks on the day.
