READING, OHIO - In a game pitting long time Cincinnati Hills League rivals, Reading HS (11-3) beat Wyoming HS (8-4) 4 to 3 and in the process, dealt a serious blow to Wyoming’s hunt to overtake first place Madeira in the league.

Reading junior pitcher Jacob Blair (3-0) picked up the win allowing one earned run while scattering five hits over six innings. Sophomore Grayson Roberts earned the save in relief, striking out the last batter with the bases loaded.

Reading junior shortstop Brandon Pavilack was two for three with an RBI. Pavilack is hitting a torrid .556 and looks like he has regained the form displayed before a season ending knee injury prior to last season’s opener.

Wyoming junior pitcher Casey Howell (1-2) took the loss. Howell scattered five hits over four and two-thirds innings allowing two earned runs.

Wyoming junior shortstop Parker Chalmers, despite going 0 for 3 with a walk, is hitting .371 for the season. Chalmers displays fluid movement, soft hands, and an above average arm in the field.

Both teams typically start only one or two seniors per game, relying mainly on underclassman. Consequently, both teams are heavily favored to supplant Madeira next year.

On Friday, Reading (8-4) travels to Prasco Park to play a yet unknown Miami Valley Conference opponent while Wyoming is off until Monday when they host Reading at Crowsley field in Blue Ash.
