This past weekend PBR Virginia/DC held the Fall Limited series hosted by Virginia Tech. Six teams from the commonwealth and DC took part in an exciting tournament filled with loads of talent.

Today we begin our post event content with our first scout blog of the event. We take a look at half of the field with the Mid-Atlantic Orioles, Richmond Braves, and Diamond Elite.

Mid Atlantic Orioles

Jackson Beale, RHP, Freeman, 2022
Athletic frame with long arms. Sound arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Fastball has slight run on the pitch that ranged 73-75 mph touching 76. Breaking all 11/5 shape with gradual break. Projectable, more there as he adds strength.

Mitchell Bayles P/1B Glen Allen 2022
Projectable frame. Short arm action and hides the ball well. Fastball ranged 75-77 with 64-66 breaking ball. Gets under the baseball at times with release. Like the frame.

Will Miller C/3B Deep Run 2022
Athletic and projectable frame. Shorter swing path with some extension through contact. Smooth swing and made some loud contact on the day. Like to see more intent in swing consistently. Chance to really develop the frame. Shows potential on the offensive end. Like behind the plate, clean feet and hands, should continue to get better back there. Intriguing talent.

Hunter Fallen RHP Deep Run 2022
Projectable frame with length. Short, quick arm action. Shows some arm speed while pitching with slight effort. More in the tank with the arm speed as he adds strength to his frame. Fastball has slight run at 77-79 mph. Breaking ball has close to 10/4 shape with shorter break.

Alex Heid IF Glen Allen 2022
Compact, athletic frame. Quick twitch and feet, quick hands. Solid defensive skill. Like actions in the field. At the plate, athletic set up with shorter slap style approach. Quick hands through the zone.

Hank Shield OF/P Collegiate 2022
Hits from a taller, slightly open set up at the plate. Hands showed potential, stiff lower half. Like to see both work together better. Nice foundation, one to monitor.

Luke Calveric P/IF Mills Godwin 2022
Lengthy projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Hits from an athletic set up, quick hands thru the zone, nice feel for barrel. Clean arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Easy effort with 77-80 mph velocity on the fastball. Breaking ball 67-69 mph. More in tank. Interesting as he adds strength to his frame.

Anthony Connor C Glen Allen 2022
Compact 5-foot-9, 155pound frame. Balanced set up at the plate with a short swing keeping hands inside the ball. Nice bat speed. Like rhythm at the plate in game, took some quality swings on day 1. Feel for barrel, can spray the ball around the field. Like the foundation offensively. Solid backstop, received well in game, clean feet. Liked how the hands worked at the plate.

Richmond Braves

Kaden Hilburger IF/OF Tabb 2022
Projectable athletic frame. Athletic set up at the plate with rhythm. Short swing to the ball with some extension through contact. Hands are fast, bat speed is there. Switch hitting potential; short with some bat speed, roped a double to deep right-center in championship game in his first at bat left handed.  Gets into lower half in stance slightly open. Like the presence at the plate and the potential in the swing. Clean actions in the field, confident first step. Can cover ground well. Continued to get better as the weekend progressed.

Tucker Love IF Tabb 2022
Athletic projectable frame. More physicality in frame yet still room to add to. Hands work at the plate. Direct and show some extension. Could see some power develop down the road. Moves well in the field. Keep an eye on, as he adds strength should continue to impress.

Jake Flippen RHP St. Christopher’s 2022
Projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds. Build up, side step delivery with nice pace. Free arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Pitches with regular effort, finishes toward the first base side. Fastball ranged 77-79 mph, touching 80 mph.

Jacob Wolfer RHP/IF Fairfax 2022
Athletic frame with room to grow. Compact, deliberate delivery. More in the tank. Sound arm-action throwing from a three-quarter slot. Fastball had slight run at 78-79 mph. Breaking ball had 11/5 shape at 68-70.

Xavier Martin C Tabb 2022
Solid frame with present strength. Left-handed hitter with balanced set up. Level path at the plate with uphill finish. Pop to the pull side. Gets around the ball at times. Wants to elevate with aggression in swing.  Nice feet behind the dish with clean exchange. Throws have average carry and are accurate.

Bennet Shealor C Blacksburg 2022 (George Mason)
Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. Hits from an athletic set up. Barrel stays in the zone for a while. Level path with some uphill finish and bat speed. Nice athletic body with power potential. Gap to gap. Moves well behind the plate. Good receiver with clean exchange and quick feet on throws. Solid backstop.

Brayden Stottlemyer IF/RHP Washington 2022
Athletic compact frame. Balanced set up. Hands are free and direct at the plate with quick hands through the zone. Nice feel for the barrel. Gap to gap approach. Liked the offensive set up. Athletic in the field with clean hands. Interesting prospect to follow.

Tyree Claxton 1B Nansemond Suffolk 2022
Solid frame. Hits from a taller quiet set up at the plate from the left side. Short stroke with average hands and good feel for the barrel. Lower half can drift at times. Good foundation offensively, like to continue to monitor.

Diamond Elite

Harrison Yergey RHP/IF Kettle Run 2022
Projectable frame with room to grow. Controlled, deliberate, build up style delivery. Longer, sound arm action that creates nice arm speed. Projection is there ad he adds strength to combine with the nice quick arm. Fastball ran 75-78 mph with a 61-63 breaking ball and 68-69 change.

Will Snyder IF Broad Run 2022
Hits from a taller, slightly open set up at the plate. Hands worked well, direct to ball, showed some extension. Nice day in game 1 for Diamond Elite with three hits. Lower half has some cleaning up to do to get more involved into swing.

Wes Stanford C/IF Briar Woods 2022
Solid frame at 5-foot-8, 165-pounds. Balanced set up at the plate with a short and quick leg lift load. Slight arm bar in load. Level path with uphill finish. Gap to gap approach. Hands are fluid at the plate, solid offensive foundation. Like to see more intent at the plate. Good feel for barrel.

Michael Hafer IF/P Stone Bridge 2022
Solid frame at 5-foot-8, 170-pounds. Hits from a balanced set up at the plate with simple load. Smooth swing and hands at the plate. Stays inside ball well. Middle approach at the plate.

Zach Turk IF/C Dominion 2022
Solid Athletic frame at 5-foot-7, 155-pounds. Hits from an athletic set up at the plate. Short swing with quick hands in and out of the zone. Like to see more extension through contact. Shows some bat speed. Strong to pull side right now, should evolve to more gap to gap approach. Swings with intent. Like the foundation at the plate.
