FULL EVENT STATISTICS

Bryan Lorenz 1B / 3B / Northwest Christian, AZ / 2024

With one of the bigger weekends for team AZ was from third baseman Bryan Lorenz. Lorenz lead the weekend with two monster home runs for team Arizona, one of them being a moon shot over the left field scoreboard at CSN. Lorenz showed a high level glove at third base with the ability to make clean and accurate throws across the diamond. During his BP rounds on Friday night Lorenz had a high EV of 105.1 mph while leaving the yard with ease. Lorenz is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of Arizona and will likely be off the board soon.

Chase Wagner RHP / 1B / Notre Dame Preparatory, AZ / 2024

Another name that you will likely not see uncommitted much longer is right handed pitcher Chase Wagner. Wagner started the opening game for team Arizona as we took on Nevada and he did not disappoint. The big righty has a strong athletic build at 6-foot-3 210 pounds and moves down the mound well with effortless velo. Wagners fastball on the night sat 88-90 while ramping it up to 92 with high spin at 2500. Wagners breaking ball worked tight spin with late break at 74-75 with a spin of 2630. We look forward to following Wagner this fall as he is one of the top uncommitted arms in the state.

Gavin Short 3B / RHP / Sunnyslope, AZ / 2024

With another monster weekend for team AZ, was corner infielder Gavin Short. On the weekend short went 6-7 including a shot over the left field fence in game 2 vs Oregon. At the plate short has a compact swing and does a nice job staying inside the baseball and working to the big part of the field. With Shorts athletic frame we see him staying on the corner infield or even moving to the outfield as he moves on to the next level. We look forward to following Short as he moves into his fall season.

Cade Shumard LHP / OF / Saguaro, AZ / 2024

The left hander closed out game 1 for team Arizona allowing 0ER over 4 innings of work. Shumard has a tall athletic frame with a fastball that topped out at 89.9mph with a 3-pitch mix for strikes. Looking at Shumards size and action there is plenty of projectability for a velo jump in the years to come. We look forward to following Shumard has he goes into his fall campaign.

Jake Gorrell SS / 3B / Red Mountain, AZ / 2024

Another one of the standouts from the weekend was middle infielder Jake Gorrell. We have been fortunate enough to see Gorrell a lot this summer and he is without a doubt the true definition of a baseball player. While he won't wow you on the metric side, the way he plays the game is high level. Up the middle Gorrell has a high level defensive tool with the ability to play the right hops and get a quick first step to the baseball. At the plate Gorrell has an easy load with a line drive approach up the middle with a threat of running on the bases. We look forward to following Gorrell this fall as he will be a solid get for any college program.

Jacob Croxford OF / C / Liberty , AZ / 2024

Another ball player and no stranger to the PBR world is outfielder Jacob Croxford. In the outfielder Croxford moves well with a plus arm of 92 mph which was the high across the entire event. At the plate Croxford is currently a gap to gap type hitter with the ability to lose a ball to the pull side and with added strength will likely see power numbers rise next spring. We look forward to following Croxford this fall and into his spring season at Liberty high school.

Willie Cornejo-Farmer 1B / 3B / Brophy College Prep, AZ / 2024

One of the most highly anticipated players entering the weekend was corner infielder Willie Cornejo-Farmer. Farmer was a standout in last summers Future Games in Georgia and is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of Arizona for the 2024 class. During the workout day Farmer posted a team high 107.1 EV which was the second best across the event. In the field Farmer is a highly defensive first baseman with the ability to move to third base down the road. We look forward to following Farmer this fall and into his spring season as he is a high follow for the Arizona staff.
