We wanted to congratulate the following players for being chosen their division's player of the week:

2A
Chase Dunker (Northeastern JC Commit, Sedgwick County High School)

The senior from Sedgwick County High School struck out 21 hitters as the Cougars moved into this Saturday's semifinals with a 3-2 victory over Lutheran, last season's state runnerup. The 6-foot, 175-pound left-hander, who is committed to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, allowed just two hits in throwing a complete game. He didn't walk a batter and the two runs he allowed were unearned. Only four balls were hit in play.

3A
Devlin Granberg  (Creighton Commit, Holy Family High School)

The senior from Holy Family hit not one but 2 grand slams in one game to also finish with 9 RBI's against Florence on Friday leading Holy Family to a 27-3 victory. Granberg also helped lead his team to victories over power 3A powerhouses Faith Christian, and Eaton. In the Eaton game Granberg went 2-4 with 3 runs scored to help break Eaton's 22 game win streak

4A
Ford Ladd (Niwot High School)

The Niwot Cougar sophomore pitched his team to a 1-0 shutout over Durango at All-Star Park.  Ladd out-duled respected senior Ben Wiley who is a Florida Gulf Coast commit. Ladd spread out 6 hits through 7 innings striking out 4 and walking 2. Niwot now has a path to the state championship as the only left undefeated team in 4A.

5A
Tyler Stevens (Rocky Mountain, New Mexico Commit) and Justin Thaxton ( Regis and Pacific Commit)

In 5A we are giving out two players of the week. The first goes to Tyler Stevens who pitched a complete game gem on Friday holding of a tough Regis team 2-1. Stevens had 8 strikeouts and only gave up 3 hits to help the Lobos win the first of three games this weekend. The Lobos have won 16 games in a row and already are guaranteed a spot in the 5A state championship game.

In a win or loser goes home game 12:30 on Saturday Justin Thaxton helped Regis get the victory over Chatfield 11-5 by hitting 3 home runs in three straight at-bats. Every time Chatfield would try to make a run in the game to keep their season alive, Thaxton got in the way. Thaxton would hit a 2-out 2 run home run in the first, another 2-run home run in the 3rd, and a solo shot in the 5th. Quite an impressive day in a game against a tough Chatfield team.
