Q & A with Charles Sobieraski 3B (Lockport HS, NY, 2014)

Dan Cevette
New York Director

Name:
Charles Sobieraski
High School: Lockport HS, NY
College Commitment: U of Buffalo
Positions: 3B/RHP

PBR New York sat down with Lockport HS standout Charles Sobieraski for a question and answer session.

PBR: How did you prepare for the 2014 season?

Sobieraski: I spent a lot of my time working hard in the weight room, doing tee work focusing on opposite field control with the bat. I also spent a great deal of time working on my hand quickness at 3B.

PBR: Who is the top player and team you have seen this school year?

Sobieraski: Best Player would be Ryan Stekl, and best team would be Lancaster that we have played. Orchard Park is very tough but we have not faced them yet.

PBR: Do you play any other sports besides baseball?

Sobieraski: I played football and basketball. In football I hold the single season touchdown record at Lockport with 12.

PBR: Who did you play your travel baseball for? What was your experience?

Sobieraski: I played for the Empire State Elite team. We finished in the top 6 at East Cobb, our summer team was ranked 28th in the nation. It was a tremendous experience being able to play elite competition all over the east coast.

PBR: Tell us a fun fact about yourself other people might not know.

Sobieraski: My one sister plays basketball at Bryant University, my other sister plays basketball at Geneseo and is making a comeback after having a liver transplant last March. (We hope she is doing well) Also my Grandfather was Ted Darling, who was the "Voice of the Buffalo Sabers" from 1970-1991.

Buzz on Sobieraski by Dan Cevette - New York Director (3rd Draft Pick 2002, Indians 02-08 / Royals 09 / Pirates 13')
Sobieraski is one of the top players in Western NY and works hard at his craft. At 3B his arm strength (87mph) and glove make him an easy transition from HS to the college ranks. Whats more impressive is how well hes swinging the bat. As a Jr. last year he managed a .500 BA, this year currently batting over .500. If he continues to improve his power and build off his already solid foundation Sobieraski could be a guy to watch for in the next three years. Nice pick up for U of Buffalo staff.
