Name: Josh Loeffler
High School: Fayetteville Manlius
College Commitment: NA
Position: OF

PBR New York sat down with rising star Josh Loeffler (Fayetteville Manlius, NY 2016) for a question and answer session.

PBR NY: Tell me about your training and preparation for the 2014 baseball season.

Loeffler: During the off-season I made sure to go hit usually 4 to 5 times a week and I made a point to stay in shape and improve my overall quickness for the year.During the off-season I made sure to go hit usually 4 to 5 times a week and I made a point to stay in shape and improve my speed for the year. PBR NY: How was it facing arguably the top pitching prospect in the NE in Scott Blewett?

Loeffler: I was very excited to face him because I had never faced someone who threw over 90 mph before. The fastball was like nothing I've ever seen and the curveball was just nasty. I was pretty pumped to get a hit off him because I know he's a great pitcher not only around here but nationally.

PBR NY: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?

Loeffler:
My biggest strength is probably my hitting ability which I work very hard on almost every night, and my biggest weakness would be my overall quickness, as it is good but not elite which is what I want.

PBR NY: Who is the top team and top player you have faced this season?

Loeffler: Baldwinsville would be the toughest team, and Scott Blewett has been the best player I have seen.

PBR NY: Could you tell us a fun fact about yourself most people don’t know?

Loeffler: I am a natural LHH but wanted to be a good switch hitter, so with all the practicing I did from the right side I have totally switched to a RHH.

Josh Loeffler OF, Fayetteville Manlius HS, NY (2016)

Loeffler when at the plate facing Scott Blewett’s wicked curveball and 90+ heat looked like the best hitter on the field. He was rarely off balance, very nice approach to hitting with extremely fast hands to the baseball. He runs well, plays hard, his only knock would be he is a little undersized.

“I have nothing but phenomenal things to say about Josh Loeffler” said his HS Head Coach J.J. Potrikus. “He is one of the best natural talents I have ever coached. His hands are lighting fast at the plate and he has the ability to consistently barrel up anything thrown at him. He has shown an excellent approach at the plate as he hit the first two pitches that he saw this year over the fence and he also has the ability to work the count and battle for quality at bats. In the Classroom, He is an incredibly hard worker with an average in the low 90's taking all honors courses”.
