PBR: Why did you choose Ashland?

Baker: I chose Ashland because I loved the Baseball tradition of it being one of the best D2 programs in the nation. The coaching staff played a big role in my choice, and I like the school itself.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Baker: I received offers from University of Toledo, Tiffin University, Lake Erie College, & Alderson-Broaddus College.

PBR: Where did the Coach Schaly first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Baker: Coach Schaly first saw me the summer before my junior year at the Ashland University Baseball Camp. He and Coach Patton also saw me at several other games and events.   I then had a campus visit this past summer.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Baker: They expect solid playing time from me my first year on campus

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Eagle baseball?

Baker: My biggest strength is my command on the mound. By keeping the ball down in the zone and getting guys out, I will be able to pitch more innings.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Baker: I played for CBC last summer and will be playing for the Ohio Force this coming summer.  The most memorable experience was going toe-to-toe against the Midland Redskins.

PBR: Ashland is making several new upgrades to their baseball facility. How much of a role did that play in your decision?

Baker: The facilities are very nice and the fact that they are making improvements was a factor in my decision.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at Lakota East?

Baker:  My Junior year I was 7-2 pitching 40 innings with 37 strikeouts and an era of 2.43.  I finished in 2nd place for most wins in the GMC and was selected First Team All GMC and All City Division 1 Honorable Mention.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Baker: Spencer Iacovone from Moeller, because it seemed like nothing I tried could get him out during the District Championship last season.
