Craig Prince, RHP, Class of 2014, Licking Valley HS

PBR: Why did you choose Otterbein?

Prince: I choose Otterbein, because the coaching staff is really good, and I think they can make me the best baseball player that I can become. They also were very supportive in letting me play football too. Ashland and Lake Erie, both wanted me to play baseball only. Those were my two biggest factors.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Prince: Ashland, Lake Erie, and Mount Vernon Nazerene.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Prince: Coach Powell, first saw me at the Heath Open that PBR hosted. They got a hold of me and came to a couple of my football games this past fall. We've been in contact ever since that event.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Prince: They expect to come to campus and throw innings right away.

PBR:  Otterbein is very close to home.  How much did distance play a role in your decision?

Prince: Being close to home is a really nice to addition, but it wasn't a big factor. The biggest factor on my decision was there pitching coach, John LaCorte. He really shows improvement in all of his pitchers, and always has a good staff.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Prince: My father, he has always pushed me to be my best and helped me since I was a little guy.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Prince: I played for the Licking County A's, and one of the most exciting moments last season we played at the University of Notre Dame and won 2-1, against a Wisconsin team to keep us alive in the tournament.

PBR: What were your stats last season for Licking Valley?

Prince: 15.1IP 27K's 2W 5S

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Ohio?

Prince: Chandler Day
