Q and A with Baldwin Wallace Commit: Alex Albright (North Royalton HS)

Alex Albright, RHP, North Royalton HS

PBR: Why did you choose Baldwin Wallace?
Albright: It was a great fit academically and athletically I liked the campus and the students that go there. Also Coach Harrison has shown that he can win and lead the program in the right direction.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Albright: The University of Dayton, Ohio Dominican, and Gannon University

PBR: What was the relationship you had with the Coach Harrison and the rest of the coaching staff in the recruitment process?
Albright: Coach Harrison and I have spoken weekly since last fall.

PBR:  Where did Baldwin Wallace first see you compete?
Albright: Coach Harrison and Coach Merritt first saw me in the Diamond League All Star Showcase and game and then in the CABA World Series last summer.

PBR: Coach Harrison has been able to turnaround every program that he has coached.  How quickly do you believe that BW can compete in the difficult OAC?
Albright: I think that this year was a big year for BW baseball and after talking with coach Harrison and meeting other potential players for BW, I think that we will compete for the OAC title in the near future.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help as a Yellow Jacket?
Albright: My versatility. I have been able to both start and relieve as well as play multiple positions in the field. The Yellow Jackets will be graduating a couple senior pitchers and I hope to help in whatever role Coach Harrison feels best suits me and the team.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Albright: This past summer I played with the Stars Baseball Club as well as the NABF tournament with the Ohio Hurricanes. This summer I will be playing with the Ohio Angels (formerly Ohio Senators and Team EAS). My favorite memory from summer was either catching the first 6 innings of a game in a tournament with the Hurricanes then closing the game as a pitcher, it was a one run game, or beating Team EAS and an Ohio State recruit with a complete game.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Albright: My dad has had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player, he has helped me develop and done everything he can to put me in a position to succeed.

PBR:  What were your stats last spring at North Royalton?
Albright: 3-1 with 2.73 era

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Albright: The two toughest hitters I have faced are Brian Ruiz (Lincoln West/Cleveland Indians) and Rutger Luebke from Medina.
