Q&A with Caleb Carr, University of Central Arkansas Commit

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

2016 OF Caleb Carr recently committed to the University of Central Arkansas. Caleb had a busy summer playing for the Arkansas Prospects and he also attended PBR Arkansas’ Top Prospects Game in June at Arvest Ballpark. I had the opportunity to discuss the recruiting process and just how he made his decision.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose the University of Central Arkansas?

Carr:  I felt comfortable being there, I enjoy being around the coaching staff, and the campus in general is great!

PBR: Where did they first see you compete?

Carr: I played in a tournament at UCA during the summer, but they really noticed me at a camp I went to in early August.

PBR:  When did you take your first official or unofficial visit the University of Central Arkansas?

Carr: I took my first unofficial visit August 10th.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Carr: They could possibly see me as a first year starter, depending on how much I have progressed over my senior year and the coming summer.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Carr: I was also considering Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, and Crowder.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Carr: My father is most definitely the biggest impact on my baseball career. Him being my high school coach just makes it even better. I'll be sitting at home and he will ask if I would want to go hit or throw, and we would. It's just something we have always done.

PBR: What were your stats for your High School last spring?

Carr: AVG: .393. Hits: 31 doubles: 6 triples 1
Runs:17. 15 RBIS. 11-11 SB .457 OBP 15 BB
