Q&A with Kansas State Commit, RHP Jake Fromson from Lee's Summit HS

Jake Fromson, a RHP from Lee's Summit HS recently committed to Kansas State University. We caught up with him to get his thoughts on his committment and advice for those who are going through the recruiting process.

PBR: Which schools were you considering prior to committing to Kansas State?
Fromson:  It was between Kansas State, Central Missouri, and Missouri State the whole time.

PBR: What were the reasons that you ultimately chose Kansas State?
Fromson:  I chose Kansas State because I have been a Kansas State fan for a while now and have followed all of their sports. Also, I have pitched very well every time I’ve pitched there and feel comfortable on the mound.

PBR: What was the relationship you had with the V Kansas State coaches in the recruitment process?
Fromson:  I talked to Josh Reynolds, who is the Kansas State pitching coach, a lot throughout the process and when I went on my visit I got to meet and talk with the rest of the coaching staff.

PBR: Do you feel that playing in Missouri and facing the competition you do has prepared you to be a DI player?
Fromson:  Yes, I feel like Missouri and Kansas has been on the rise for a while now and competition here is very tough. We also get the chance to play teams from all over which is good experience.

PBR: What are your thoughts on the implementation of BBCOR bats from a hitting and pitching perspective?
Fromson:   I love the BBCOR bats! For one, they are much easier to pitch to and also they make me feel a lot safer on the mound. One thing my coaches told me throughout the summer was, with these bats, to just throw strikes and pitch to contact.

PBR: What team did you play for over the summer and how did it go for you? Were there any aspects of your game that you wanted to improve during the summer?
Fromson:  I played for Jeremy Jones with Building Champions. The last three years I’ve been with them have made me the player that I am today. I wanted to improve my mound presence this year, and Jeremy helped me through that to improve my confidence and not show emotions on the mound.

PBR: As you head into your senior year, is it good to have the commitment and recruiting process done?
Fromson:  Yes, it is a huge relief to have it all over with because now I can just focus on school, improving, and school ball. It will take a lot of pressure of me when school ball comes around.

PBR: Do you feel that this season will be any different considering that you know where you’ll attend college?
Fromson:  No, I feel like I will still go out and give it my all anyway. I know that I have a lot to improve on to go and compete at a D1 level, so I have to put the work in.

PBR: What do you hope to accomplish in this upcoming season on an individual level?
Fromson:  I hope to put my team in a position to win everytime I am on the mound and hopefully lead us to a championship.

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Fromson:  The most memorable experience was when I threw at Kansas State for the first game of the summer and I had a perfect game through 5 2/3 innings and we won the first game of the summer.

PBR: What advice would you give to other players who are just beginning the recruiting process?
Fromson:  I would say to take it all in. It is an incredible experience to go through and to make sure that you look through all of your options before deciding and make sure that the school is the right fit for you.
