Quality Pitching Match Up Between Two Future Wolverines

Grosse Pointe South and Sterling Heights Stevenson are two programs with a rich histories and are sure to be a good match up.  Add to that mix, two future University of Michigan Wolverines as the starting pitchers, and you have the recipe for a dynamite game.

The Stevenson Titans started Brandon Hughes, 6-foot-0, 170-pound, class of 2014, while Grosse Point South countered with Carmen Benedetti, 6-foot-2, 190-pound, class of 2013.  Neither pitcher disappointed with Hughes and the Titans coming out on top in a 3-0 final.  Hughes went the distance only allowing three hits and striking out four.

For the Blue Devils of Grosse Pointe South, Benedetti also went the distance.  He struck out six batters and surrendered three hits.  Unfortunately for Benedetti and the Blue Devils, the Titans scored one run in the sixth inning and followed it up with two more in the top of the seventh.

Sterling Heights Stevenson takes over the lead in the Mac Red division with the win improving to 14-6 overall.
