Quick Hits: Day One 2020/2021 Arizona State Games

Arizona Director of Scouting

Day One of the Arizona State games is in the books, here's a look at some of the standouts from the Texas Rangers Spring Trraining Facility, located in Surprise, Arizona.

Connor Camden, OF, USA Prime
The 2021 right handed hitter showed good pop in his bat in day one, having multiple extra base hits, including a home run in the 1
st
game of the day for Prime. He has a wiry frame with plenty of projection remaining in his long-limbed body.

Will Flores, RHP, Aggies Baseball
Physical 2020 from San Luis was up to 91 MPH in his start and didn’t allow a run. Two pitch mix with a mid-70s breaking ball that was enough to keep hitters off of his fastball. The athletic 6’3 195 frame is an intriguing follow for the 2020 class.

Teagan Carey, SS, T-Rex
A projectible frame with current strength continues to get better with the bat and has been a consistent presence in the middle infield. There’s enough arm strength and good hands to keep the ball going into the glove consistently to keep him at SS. He has a middle/oppo approach and shows the ability to foul off tough pitches in 2K counts.

Tyler Davis, RHP, AZ Athletics
The University of Arizona commit was 84-87 with his lively fastball, his arm side run was a good matchup against a predominately right handed lineup. Slurvy breaking ball was in the low 70s and threw it in a wide variety of counts for strikes and out of the zone for swing and miss.

TJ Oster, 2B, T-Rex
Oster has a smaller frame but above athleticism to make up for the lack of size. He has done nothing but hit, against some talented arms. He’s a switch hitter that works gap to gap from the right side, which is the stronger of the two sides. He projects more as a 2B, with the ability to really turn the double play from the right side of the infield.

Michael Kasik, LHP, T-Rex
The 6’2 195-pound frame with strength was 83-85 in his three inning start. He threw with angle and an easy arm action, to go along with his three-pitch mix. Threw his fastball to both sides of the plate and challenged hitters during his entire outing.
